Quite harsh on Ireland that they drop three places in the rankings despite a good WC showing. Shows how daft these ranking systems can be at times.

I understand the rankings are done over 5 years and that essentially whoever wins the Eng v NZ test next year will end up 2nd.

Beating Lebanon, France, PNG and New Zealand B....sorry, Tonga isn't enough...over the last 5 years England are 0-5 v the Aussies and 2-4 v the Kiwis.....beat them in next years series and you'll be #2.
I've seen Ireland in soccer beat England in Stuttgart88.......Italy at USA94 and neither time did I expect us to be ranked above England or Italy......Rankings are over a few years, not 4 weeks!

HOW MANY TIMES?????
£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
