Gregory Bird has been released from his contract with the Gold Coast Titans and will return to the Catalans Dragons in 2017 on a 5 year deal worth AU$2.7 million.
www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... s0yt3.html
Bird is now 31, so the Catalans have expectations of Bird playing until age 36 (3 years less than the legendary Steven Menzies)

| And if you could read you would see it's a 3 year deal with an additional two years as assistant coach.

I can read and I did not read it in the source cited, the Sydney Morning Herald. It is not in the SMH, and only a psychotic would have thought that such information was to be found in the SMH I cited.
You might have got your information about his planned coaching role from an article on the Catalans website, which I only read long after my original post.

Instead of being an arrogant smart aleck, why didn't you just cite it? Oh hang on, I forgot about your petty points scoring obsession. But all in all a lame effort.

| Bird is likely a replacement for Glenn Stewart, in the second row. His recruitment will hopefully encourage his former Titans team mate David Taylor to stay in Perpignan. That would be a powerful forward combination.
Though Glenn Stewart is a very good player, Gregory Bird is probably better. He will likely lift the team by his aggressive on field example.
Catalans needs to sort out the five eighth position though. IMO, Lucas Albert needs another year in the U-19s to develop his talent.

Wrong. Gregory Bird is actually 32, as like myself , he was born early October.

Surprising comment considering they have lost Stewart and Carney who will have been on ridiculous money, and everyone knows the pittance the french players get paid there

They are losing underpaid French players left and right.

Surely you are referring to a smart Alec, a phrase taken from a nick-name given to Alec Hoag?
How disrespectful not to use his full name in your post.

| He played very well for them last time, but not convinced that signing old Aussies is the answer for them. They look in need of a fitness coach more than anything, after 30mins half that team is worn-out.

Carney, Stewart, Mason, Richards all left. Catalan must be way under the cap at this current moment.

| Pleased Bird's coming back to S.L. I especially like to see him trying to milk penalties with faux agony etched on his face.

| Reportedly on $550,000 a season according to fox sports. So probably their marquee player.
Good to see him in SL. The league desperately needs more quality players.

| He is (was?) a top class player. Still gutted his misdemeanours kept the Bulls from signing him back when we weren't a shambles.
Although personally I wouldn't use him as Stewart's replacement. I'd be playing him at 13 and letting him get as many touches of the ball as possible.

| At least we are getting a z list standard import into super league rather than the part time, sunday league, over 40's queensland cup standard we've had recently.
