| Marwan Koukash has been hinting at an interest in the GC Titans for some time now.
Now that the GC Titans have bought Jarryd Hayne, the Titans are becoming a fancy club with big ambitions. They now sit 7th in the NRL and should rise much higher with Hayne there.
Buying the Titans would be a perfect way for the race horse owning impressario to become an Australian citizen and a highly visible figure in Australian life.
However God help Salford if that happens. Expect them to fold quickly in 2017, and be replaced in Super League in 2018 by Toulouse Olympique.

| God help Gold Coast if he does, the penalties for salary cap offences in the NRL are far more serious.
Joking aside, with the potential increase in funding, sponsorship and profile of the NRL it makes more sense than persisting with a failing club who can't attract more than a handful of supporters.

| EDITED TO BE ACCURATE:
"Marwan Koukash has been hinting at an interest in the GC Titans for some time now.
Now that the GC Titans have bought Jarryd Hayne, the Titans are becoming a fancy club with big ambitions. They now sit 7th in the NRL and COULD rise much higher with Hayne there.
Buying the Titans would be a perfect way for the race horse owning impressario to become an Australian citizen and a VERY highly visible figure in Australian life.
However God help Salford if that happens. Expect them to fold quickly in 2017, and be replaced in Super League in 2018 by A CLUB FROM THE LEAGUE BELOW."
You won't be happy until you get one prediction right.

| Possibly he might buy the Gold Coast Titans, but what about his business interests here?
The plus side for him apart from owning the Titans is that the Gold Coast has a racecourse as well, and the weather is a hell of a lot better.
Would he still keep control of the Red Devils if he bought the Titans?

| Why do people think things are financially rosy in the NRL? It's not. It's in shıte.
The Titans have been in a mess for a while. They became owned by the NRL (yet another club being paid out to keep the League going) who now want to sell them to a local businessman as the North Sydney bears put their hands up to buy their licence off them! The money to get Hayne would have come from the League themselves.

We are way too fond of running ourselves down and lazily assuming that the NRL is a land of milk and honey where all is well.

It does have a substantial amount of "milk and honey" though.
(their TV deal makes ours look like loose change )

Even their TV deal sounds great in principle. But that's it. Sounds great. Money hasn't really filtered down. NRL clubs are struggling more than ever. More are being run by the league so the league itself can survive.
Teams are farming out their reserve grades even more and also will be spending a lot less on their U20s. All to save money.
The Titans have somehow been able to offer hayne a large salary. Despite the fact that they are skint and are being run by the league. That's right, the league will have to help pay him.
Clubs have gone cap in hand, asking for advances, sponsors are hard to find, drugs, sex tapes and so on. It is not rosy over here.

| Why do people think Marwan Koukash has the money to buy Gold Coast Titans? Oh they've googled his worth and Wikipedia says it's $900m. It isn't.

What is his worth JGR ?
On a positive note re Jarryd & Gold Coast, they had a reported 25,000+ attendance which GCT claim added $300,000 in gate receipts alone.

| Will probably get a similar number with shirt sales + printing. Same with Pogba at United, many more commercial benefits of paying a lot for a big name than what they produce on the pitch.

Would be good, as they are in disarray and this will hopefully pay off a small chunk of debt, or the NRL will just get it anyway.
Can't believe that after many attempts and a massive growth in the population, it still doesn't seem to work up there. Why??? I don't know. Maybe they love their local QLD Cup more?
