| Am I missing something or does that only say that Brierley has a clause saying he can leave if Rowley leaves? I'm sure that lots of players have lots of clauses in their contracts. They have "tried" to contact the player but have no comment from him. Just smacks of 5hite and lazy journalism trying to forge a story where there isn't one yet.

The cynic in me thinks this 'scoop' might have come from his agent who was eager to make other clubs aware of the clause in his contract.

If there even is one. What are the rumours about Leigh? It's blatantly obvious that they've gone above the salary cap, but is that what has made Rowley leave? Are they facing another financial implosion, given how idiotic their owner is in public I cannot imagine how he runs a successful business.

So now that the salary cap rules have changed for Championship clubs allowing them to spend the same as Super League clubs. You are suggesting that Leigh have found a way around registering the players contracts with the RFL that allows them to spend over the new increased salary cap without the RFL noticing it? All the checks that the RFL now put in place have been by-passed by the Leigh club. Wow.

Under the live cap, the RFL are reliant on the club self-declaring any changes to contracts which impact on its aggregate liability.
It's still entirely possible for a club to do what Melbourne did, and have one set of books for the RFL and another for its own eyes only. Not saying that's what's happened at Leigh, but the idea that the live cap somehow prevents clubs from breaking it is nonsense.

Should the title of this thread not be HMS - as in Her Majesty's Ship?
Though I do see Risk Management Solutions may also be relevant.

Well, since that went public last night the blue-eyed boy of the rugby league press has not made any statement - nor has Brierley.
It's not as though he hasn't replied to 'rumours' before - You can decide on the veracity

Definitely. Contract A declared to RFL. Contract B paid as a consultancy payment by Company X Ltd, unrelated to SL club. Who finds that?
I didn't realise the cap had gone up so much, seems ridiculous.

If there is such a clause. I have lost count of the amount of rumours and stories and outright fabrications around Ryan Brierley over the past 3 years. It is bizarre. He has signed for Wire once, Leeds 3 times and Salford more than that and yet he still keeps turning up for work at the LSV.
Will take this latest one with a pinch of salt until anything official is announced.
We should hire somebody as the official Ryan Brierley rumour refuter. It would be a full time job!

HMS is the suffix for Naval vessels, whereas Merchant ships are more often suffixed SS, howeever RMS is a correct title foe a Merchant ship registered to carry Mail, it stands for Royal Mail Ship, a well known example being the RMS Titanic, though one certainly hopes Leigh avoid the fate of that unfortunate craft.
