From tonight's referee...well done fella

Seen a lot worse and a decent debut. The game was painfully slow at the PTB, loads of holding down and by not penalising any of it set the precedent for the whole game. Apart from that looked composed and got most decisions right

And there I was thinking it was the players doing all that.

I know you always trot out this line, and to an extent I agree with you. However you know as well as I do that in a competitive environment players are always going to do whatever they can to get an edge, even if it involves bending the rules. It's up to the ref to keep the game flowing by stamping down on that stuff early on.

That said I thought he had a very decent debut. It was a little slow at the ptb, but I've seen much worse. It was a pretty easy game to ref, but he made the right call on all of the "big" decisions, and looked at home.

We need as many people reffing as possible, it's an old cliche, but there's no game without them, so good luck to the lad. Anyone who has the bottle to give it a go gets a pat on the back from me.

Well obviously the players are the ones holding down, but when you're getting away with it then why would you stop? That's the refs job, it's the players who tackle round the head and stand offside but the red still has to give the decisions.

He had a decent game, good enough to suggest he can hold his own. If Childs still gets a gig this guy should be a shoe in every week.
