I know you always trot out this line, and to an extent I agree with you. However you know as well as I do that in a competitive environment players are always going to do whatever they can to get an edge, even if it involves bending the rules. It's up to the ref to keep the game flowing by stamping down on that stuff early on.
That said I thought he had a very decent debut. It was a little slow at the ptb, but I've seen much worse. It was a pretty easy game to ref, but he made the right call on all of the "big" decisions, and looked at home.
We need as many people reffing as possible, it's an old cliche, but there's no game without them, so good luck to the lad. Anyone who has the bottle to give it a go gets a pat on the back from me.
