Why did the RFL think it honorable to offer Leeds Rhino's fans only half price tickets for the Championship GF, and yet charge fans of the clubs playing full price?

I would assume it's because the fans of the clubs involved are going to go to a (still cheap) final there club is involved in regardless, whereas Leeds fans may not go for full price but will be drawn in by the incentive of half price and will pad out the crowd for the game.

Maybe a more suitable stadium and kick off time wouldnt have needed ' padding out '?

Why would offering a discount to people less likely to go be a stupid policy?

Sounds a decent one to me and one that's probably worked. It certainly has in my case.

Headingley, the most famous stadium in the sport, is an excellent choice which all the competing players will be happy to play at - certainly moreso than the more run of the mill recent venues for this game.

The RFL encouraging Leeds fans to go is, of course, smart as they are likely to be local but uncommitted to going to this occasion. They should have found a way of restricting the code to Leeds season ticket holders or perhaps to all SL season ticket holders although that's easier said than done when selling tickets.

Spot on. The "stupidity" was in not requiring a season ticket number from the Leeds season ticket holders to use the discount code, but not in trying to attract more people to the event.

Stupidity would have offering discounted tickets to the fans of the 2 clubs involved.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg

Well with the promo code being distributed through social media and the lack of any checks on the ticketline I suspect alot of people took advantage.

Not exactly expensive tickets , but i agree if no checks being made any one can get a half price ticket, should have waited to get mine. plus Leeds fans dont have to travel 3 of other clubs involved do, so extra expencse for them to concider.

No problem with Leeds members getting in cheap. Games at their stadium.

It was far more stupid to allow Leigh and Oldham fans to but the tickets half price without questioning postcodes etc or asking for proof of membership.

As soon as the RL announced who was in which part of the ground the offer should have been taken off.

Tickets for the west terrace only available from Featherstone and Hunslet so there was no chance of fans from those teams abusing the offer.

Like I said no problem with Leeds members getting the offer, but very annoying that opposing teams where able to do so.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif

Have to agree, makes sense to offer lower prices to those not directly involved. But mass incompetance to not have a method to split those fans from others.

Now this is a genuine RFL fiascoe, forget things like disciplinaries and match bans, this lies directly within the gift of the RFL.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?:

If you are trying to get a rise out of the Leeds fans, you could at least spell the name of the ground correctly.
