| He has proved to be incompetent in charge of a whistle and also a flag. At what level should he be allowed loose ?

| I've said it before. Officials are elite athletes, and every one of them will make errors. The contant highlighting if errors is putting the sport into the state it is in, see the obstruction rule. They needed to make it black and white, rather than judgement calls, due to commentators focusing 5 mins after an incident criticising a call. Yet if a pass is intercepted or a tackle missed, it's all 'part of the game'
I think we should lay off the officials a bit, they do a good job

| Im no fan of referees, but thr fact is these lot are the best we have in our comparatively small sport.
If you think you could do better than please have a go and see how easy it is.

| I thought Thalers had a good game. He made mistakes but it is incredibly difficult not to ,
Gave Giants a couple of soft penalties which I did not think should have been given and then gave Wigan a couple of penalties that they milked.
The key thing is he was CONSISTENT. Treated both teams the same. I would guess the penalty count is evenish.
What i hate is the ref who says penalises one team constantly for laying on but completely ignores the other team for being offside and racks up a huge penalty count against one team.
Every team if penalised to the letter of the law would be penalised 80 times a game.
Not playing the ball correctly, offside, moving of the mark , i would say that happens on 50% of PTBs.
As long as they are fair i dont mind them making mistakes

You have proved to be incompetent in charge of a brain and also a keyboard. At what level should you be allowed loose?

| The phantom knock on and missing the Ferres on Bateman challenge (In his line of sight, not Thaler's) both led to Huddersfield scores, and were bad calls. Will be interesting to see what's made of it for ask the refs.

| Even Stuart Cummings admitted a couple of the calls were incorrect last night so it must have been a bad showing.

| It really wasn't a bad showing at all, in fact it was pretty good.
The only issues I can remember are the knock-on, which was obviously wrong, and the tackle on Bateman which I thought they got right.
The knock-on was an understandable mistake. They get 1 look in real time and have various things to look for. They're going to get something like this wrong from time to time. Decisions like these aren't ones that should be used to criticise refs. It's the ones on inconsistent interpretations like holding down etc that are the problem and things that get fans really annoyed.
The Bateman incident was a 50/50 in my opinion. Ferres had rushed up in defence and Bateman was running through quickly as a dummy runner. I'd call it a collision and play on.

| It's easier to judge an official, but there the ones running around for 80 minutes while making split second decisions with people like Danny Brough yapping in their ears and fans screaming abuse.
Get critized for using video refs too much.
Get critized for not using them enough.
If they penalised everything and we came out with a ridicules amount of penalties then I think I'd stop watching the game.
It's very rare a referee has a big say in the final result. Players lose games, not referees.
I think coaches/players should not be allowed to talk about the refrees in the media wether it be negative or positive. It just gets the fans riled up and adds a negative vibe our sport just doesn't need.

| I thought Thaler had another good game; tough one to ref, as both sides take liberties in the tackle and around the ruck, not to mention having to monitor Wigan's many bodies in motion for the new penalty du jour.
Hicks missed a bounce and his mistake was corrected - no biggie.
