He has always wanted to move to Australia and I guess the lure of being Trent Robinsons tea boy proved too strong. I'm not sure what contract they've offered him. I've heard 2 years but someone else has told me it's 3.

I cant see us attracting a big name coach if it is to stay a full time position.that being the case I would like to see the job go to a high profile name like Ellery Hanley as an example.i would be just as happy to see a british coach of a lower division side like say John Kear or Karl Harrison get the role too.

| So the guy that everyone slates has gone and got a job with the NRL winners in 2013 - maybe some of the keyboard coaches on here need to just shut up

As much as I like Karl I wouldn't want him to be England coach because it seems Karl's tactics at Fax are 5 drives and a kick and it is really dull to watch and as a coach I don't think he has got enough coaching experience yet at the top level. But John kear would be a fair shout.

| Kear has been there before and wasn't great. He is an excellent coach at motivating lower calibre teams but he fell short when he got the rep job.
I would prefer full time as it allows them to get to other clubs and monitor players in fixtures other than just home and away against a specific team. Hope the appointment is made in reasonable time, don't want to see it vacant until a month before the exiles fixture.

Yes he has linked up with another member of the 'Brian Smith'clique at Roosters. He will be 3rd assistant coach behind Jason Taylor and Craig Fitzgibbon in the set up...wow! No doubt they hope he may help them attract one or two UK players. Having coached a SL club and the national side he becomes the Roosters cone boy...about right.

He has gone as assistant coach. The idea behind it is to teach him how to become a successful full time coach and where better to watch and learn than at the 2013 premiers of the NRL.
I've heard the RFL are paying him and not the Sydney Roosters.
