And Perth to get next years WCC!?
The rumours have been around for quite some time but when the World Cup executive met in the days leading up to the April 19 Test between Australia and New Zealand, the news finally leaked out – GB’s flag will most likely be hoisted after an eight-year break in 2015.
It’s something RFL chief executive Nigel Wood wanted to keep quiet but RLIF chairman Scott Carter spoke openly about it in the lead-up to the meeting. A tour at the end of the 2015 season will comprise two Tests against each of the trans-Tasman rivals and mid-week matches against yet-to-be-determined opposition.
Next year, the WCC will likely head to Perth as a two-team competition.

| Have I had a long day, or is that article terribly written? Brilliant news, however.

| I'd prefer to do away with England et al altogether and have GB as the international team. That is the country, after all. The only reason I would keep the constituent nations in any form would be in some sort of SOO equivalent in which a hyped up 3/4 nations mini comp is tied to GB squad selection.

My thought exectly GB should be the top side (except for world cup) & the individual Nations should be the qualifying route. I would only hope the NRL clubs dont sell us short by fieldling second teams as they did on the last proper tour then wonder why we struggled against the Aussie National squad.

they need England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland to 'bulk' the world cup up.
i'd be happy with a set up where we continue with England for World Cups and 4 Nations, but come together as GB for proper tours with games against club sides, Queensland/NSW etc as part of the tours.

| So this is going to have to be something like an 8-9 week tour, presumably departing the week after the Grand Final and finishing a week or two before Xmas?
Players will come back, get a couple of weeks off then be straight into pre-season ready to go again the first week in Feb. Expect a massive drop-off in performance from players on the tour and an increased risk of injuries, unless the SL calendar for the following season is changed.

That would also mean playing in the Australian summer. I can see that going really well

| would it make sense to tour during the season but before the playoff series begins?
the regular rounds are pretty meaningless afterall, as some posters would have us believe.

| I think there is a place for both England and GB. England for 4 Nations & World Cup, GB for Ashes & Kiwi tours.
I'd like to see something along the lines of:
Year 1 - 5 Nations down under (Eng, Aus, NZ, PNG & other Southern Hemisphere team)
Year 2 - Aus v GB tour here
Year 3 - 5 Nations here (Eng, Aus, NZ, Wales & France)
Year 4 - World Cup
Year 5 - 5 Nations down under
Year 6 - GB v Aus tour down under
Year 7 - 5 Nations here
Year 8 - World Cup
Plus an annual mid-season Home Nations comp of Eng, Fra, Wales, Scotland & Ireland here, and a mid-season Comp down under of Aus, NZ, PNG, Fiji.
I know the domestic season would be affected, but clubs will just have to survive without a few of their top players for a couple of games a season.

BRILLIANT'" In what way is it 'needed' other than to satiate dinosaurs who can't let go of the past?
