| NZ Warriors want Shaun Wane, almost as much as they want Sam Tomkins.
Matthew Elliot is a hopeless coach, and was an emergency stop gap this year, but he has already clearly failed miserably with a talented NZ Warriors team.
NZ Warriors probably figure that coaching success with Wigan is a guarantee of success in the NRL, because they look at what Michael McGuire has done with South Sydney. Plus bringing out Wigan's sensational full back with his coach will make adjusting and performing easier for both of them.
Only problem is whether Ian Lenagan wants to enforce the terms of the contract with Sam Tomkins, in which case the Wane move like the Tomkins move might not occur until 2015 (by which time Wigan's planned replacement full back Dan Sarginson will have had a chance to show if he can do the job).

yeah right im sure thats what they are thinking!
Shaun Wane has waited many years to get his chance at what he calls his 'dream job'.He has only been in it a year and a half and hasnt won any pots as of yet (hub cap aside).Im sure he will want to spend the next few years trying to build his own dynasty at the club while he has the chance because it may not come round again if he goes to the NRL and he makes a total hash of it.
If, a few years down the line the opportunity came up to go coach in the NRL after he has won a few trophies with Wigan then he will probably take it but i would be quite shocked if he left Wigan anytime soon.

Shaun Wane would seem to be doing very well by keeping Wigan at the top of the table in Super League.
He has admitted that there is interest in him Down Under, where his predessor Madge has a real aura about him, because of his smashing current success at South Sydney.
It must be really tempting for Shaun Wane to go next year. If he turns down the NZ Warriors offer for 2014 now, he cannot be sure that it will still be there for 2015. He would be well advised to at least make a commitment to the NZ Warriors for 2015, to stop someone else (e.g. Brian Noble?) from possibly getting the job. NZ Warriors may settle for that, in part because it might influence Sam Tomkins to go there as well.

Whilst Wane is obviously devoted heart and soul to Wigan, 99% of romance like this is going to be flayed from our game by the new NRL money. If they do want him (and why wouldn't they) NZW will presumably offer spades more dosh to Wane than he'll be on and in a fickle game like management, it would be folly to turn it down. The only sticking point is whether he and his family could cope with a move accross the world - some can't think of anything worse.
Wane would be a good choice for NZ in my opinion. Past the technical coaching - which he has no problem with, look at the passion that he's instilled in Wigan. Look at the way the young lads play for the badge. Look at how geared up they get for derby day. I could well imagine him ingraining the similar team spirit into the young NZ lads in there battles against the Aussie Clubs.

His comments about working in the NRL were made in an interview on Radio Manchester last week. He was asked something along the lines of "would you like to coach in the NRL?". I don't think there is a rugby league coach in the land who would say no to that.
Whilst he did well at Wigan to top the table last year, he is yet to win anything. Plenty of unfinished business at Wigan yet.

| I was under the impresion Wane has plenty of money personally, which meant he could get into coaching without the money worries?
Still, a gig in the NRL is probably high on his list.

| After last night's disastrous annihilation of NZ Warriors by Penrith 62-6, I am sure that NZ Warriors management will want to get rid of Elliot as soon as they can find a replacement. They will probably now increase their offer to Shaun Wane.
Elliot has been a flop for years. He was fired by Penrith, who recruited NZ Warriors coach Ivan Cleary. As soon as Cleary left the NZ Warriors, who had made the NRL Grand Final in 2011, the club went into a tailspin. Elliot willl keep the team at the bottom of the NRL because he cannot discipline a team, and discipline is what the NZ Warriors desperately need.
However Wane cannot leave Wigan this year, and it will be a problem for him to leave next year. But with Tomkins as his charge he can turn things around at the NZ Warriors.

Brian McClennan took the helm of New Zealand Warriors last season and performances under him where very similar to as they are under Elliot. McClennan has a far superior CV to Wane and I'm sure they will be aware of that getting a team to perform in super league does not necessarily translate to NRL teams. Like you said good structures and discipline is what that team needs, that's why they recently offered Bellamy a LOT of money.

More like he saved you from wasting your time. The game was awful and says a lot about NZ Warriors that they can allow Penrith to score over 60 points against them.

| Wanes' wife was out in NZ with Tomkins mum the other week looking over the joint. Would say there is a strong chance both are there next year.
