| Heading for a bumper crowd.
Following the clubs setting a price of £8 for an adult ticket there has been a huge demand.
The Giants are also offering a special £25 ticket for the game against Wire this weekend and the CC game.
The away end is virtually sold out and the Giants are moving some of their upper tier supporters further down to ensure the game looks good on TV
Quote: "It is vital for the benefit of the game at large that we fill the TV arc and we would therefore appreciate your support with this initiative by helping to sell out those areas
'"
This is the sort of thing all clubs on TV should do to present the game well on TV.
In my view this should be done on all TV games including Sky. Playing games in empty stadiums looks awful.
I would extend this so that fans of other clubs who are season ticket holders should be allowed to pre purchase tickets for say a fiver to attend Sky televised games not including their teams.

Exactly right, and well done Huddersfield for taking image management seriously. Funnily enough, I got a letter from them (actually a very good one) informing me of various offers. The only slight problem was that it was written to me very much in the context of being a 'home' supporter when the only reason they've got my address was because I bought an away ticket when Wigan went there last. Leeds used to do the same. A minor quibble would be to do a bit more in sorting the database out - no problem with them writing to away supporters, but it can be more targeted if you know who's who. All in all though, they seem to be working hard - the pertinent question now is why *is* it so hard to fill their stadium?

| £8 is a cracking price and it should certainly put a few more bums on seats and if the game lives up to it's top billing, you might improve your weekly gates.
I like your idea about ticket deals for sky games, which could be available to s/t holders from other clubs.

| £8 is brilliant for what should be a cracking tie. There's only so long clubs could afford to offer those sorts of deals but for a couple of years I think it's what the cup needs to breath some life back in to it.
It's only £12 for a ticket to our game at HKR as well so hopefully there will be some encouraging crowds on.

| Well done to the Giants for this, at 21 quid I was 50/50 as to whether I'd go or not, but at these prices I'm definitely going and have persuaded 3 mates to go with me

Maybe because their stadium holds 24,500 people, and Huddersfield have never averaged more than 8,000 in a season in the modern era? They are obviously getting somewhat closer to filling it - their averages have almost doubled in the last decade.

| fine for making it look better on tv, not so fine for those fans whom simply wont ever pay full price, reducing the tickets this far just devalues the product..Bit like the season tickets a while back.
Clubs cannot sustain this in any way shape or form, I even think £12 is too low, £15 for cup games is an accpetable amount IMO but I guess I would pay full price no matter what game it was. It costs me 1.5-2 times the std ticket price at FC just to get there so maybe my viewpoint is skewed.
Given how Hudds have done relatively to other clubs of recent times they've had shocking attendances and I can't see this having much positive benefit even short to medium term.

Shocking attendances that are almost double what they were getting 10 years ago .

We charged £10 against saints when it was on tv and got 4500 about so hopefully with it not on tv, the next round of the cup and hopefully a great away support as usual should be towards the 6k or more

| Over 8000 advanced tickets sold so far. Giants play at home this weekend so more tickets to be sold then.
Any neutrals coming the £8 finishes on Sunday so book a ticket now and collect on the day.

Do you know what price it rises to after Sunday or pay on the gate?

| I think it is silly to end the offer a full week in advance, if I missed the 8 pound and was aware of it, i´d not then want to pay say 20 quid to attend, I´d kick myself and think . As it is I can´t attend anyway.

That crowd was far more than 4,500, especially compared to KR crowds that have been 7,000 + and yet looked a lot smaller.

| No one should be celebrating a cheap ticket, you should be happy to pay full price, one day your team won't be there and you can fill you weekends down the garden centre bemoaning whatever happened to rugby league.

Firstly Hudds haven't gotten anywhere close to increasing crowds 100% (or doubling as you say) from ten years ago, to the 2012 season it was 63% increase on the 2003 season. That the 2012 season was artificially high due to the £50 season tickets (u12's free) makes that increase not so valid. The increase for 2012 over 2011 was only 10% which given the giveaway prices suggests Huddersfield isn't really interested in RL as a whole.
They have also gone from also rans getting heavily beat when they first come into SL to a team that got to the CC final by 2006 and have continued to improve no end yet still can't manage 8k av with giveaway season tickets.
This season they average 6420, an increase of just 36% on 2003..
So, as I was saying, lowering your prices whether for a season or one game, or indeed letting fans in for free as per Hudds 2008 leeds game which got 12k+(then 6150 against the league leaders the next match) shows that doing so does jack all to helping increase the attendances/income further down the line.
So you were sayin'....
