AN interesting document fell off the back of a truck – sorry, lorry – the other day. It may or may not have been a Stobart truck/lorry.
A copy for the RFL’s pitch document to potential naming rights sponsors has fallen into my hands and it makes for intriguing reading.

Steve you need to change your Avatar mate.
The Wooly look in front of the Pyramids located in the well known Rugby League Country Egypt does not really work.
Neither does "Rock and Roll Rugby"

| Excellent article. The 34% from the south of England is interesting. They can't all be exiles tuning in.

| I think this is an interesting point:
A boast that live Super League games average 171,000 viewers on Sky weekly with the Autumn Internationals averaging 800,000 on BBC;
The pros and cons of terrestrial coverage vs Sky is long complicated debate ( but since we need Sky's money, pretty much a settled one ), however, it indicates how big the gap remains between BBC exposure and other channels. Few people in the game seem to think those autumn internationals were 'big games' - live attendances bear that out too, but they still got more than 4 times the viewers.
The size of that gap surprised me - I assumed it had closed up more than that.

| Nice work Steve, some very interesting stats there. I wonder how many more viewers England v Australia/NZ would have got on the BBC?

| If 34% of SKY viewers are from the Southern area then it's no wonder so many in powerful places see the Broncos as vital.
Is there a case there to allocate them more of the SKY cash to help them establish a top class squad and the back up that goes with it.
34% of SKY's money is absolutely massive

| the 34% could be quite disproportionately swelled by things like pubs showing the game as the only decent live sport on at certain times etc.
Its still higher than I would have thought. I wonder where the South starts? Probably as you leave Wakefield

afraid its like that all over the place, if its not football its not on. was once in cyprus when a RL final was on tv. went round all the sports bars and none had it on. they all had music channels on as was no football. finally found one that would put it on and the bar soon had a dozen customers who saw RL and came in to watch.

Eh? The 34% aren't tuning in to watch London, they're tuning in to watch rugby league.
I live down south and my mates will watch saints, Wigan, wire, Catalans, Leeds etc as big games just like the rest of us, rather than London just because it's in southern England.
