On Saturday 17 Septembre at Carcassonne Carlos Zalduendo was elected the new President of the French Federation of Rugby 13.

Carlos was for many years the boss of Toulouse Olympique club, for which he had played 1969-80. He also represented France in rugby league.

His main tasks are:

(1) to create a 12 team Elite competition in France
(2) to help Toulouse Olympique join the Super League Europe in 2015, hopefully with a TV contract that includes the televising of Catalans and Toulouse home games.

Those of us who know Carlos Zalduendo know him as a man with a very strong personality and a strong drive to be successful. He will be a force for good in the development of rugby league in France.
