 Warrington duo, Ben Westwood and Ryan Atkins have pulled out of Steve McNamara's England squad, alongside South Sydney forward, Sam Burgess.
McNamara has called up Ben Harrison and Stefan Ratchford of the Wolves, and Wigan's Liam Farrell.

Really hope Burgess gets a full season next year. He hardly seems to have played last couple of years. Glad to see Ratchford in there, had a very good year. Good luck to Farrell & Harrison but i'm not a big fan of either.

Not a fan of Harrison at all, but Farrell has always looked outstanding for Wigan, seems to break a hell of a lot of tackles.

...or a shoulder operation?
I know some players could play through the pain barrier, and they probably would if this was a world cup or Tri Nations year, but its not. A heck of a lot of players have niggling injuries that require rest, and a fair few will need minor surgery to get fit for next year.

Maybe after a knee op and a hernia op, SuperBen fancies a rest before pre-season starts. I wouldn't much fancy playing in this tournament either - chances of injury for not much reward.

And Shatkins played both games against the Exiles. McBanana stopped calling him up simply because he cries of with injuries most of the time. |

A player can withdraw if he likes, or not make himself available if he likes. Judging by past behaviour, Atkins and MacNamara don't really get on. Can't blame him, really, for not wanting to play. His form hasn't been great in the last third of the season, barring the last 2 playoff games, so maybe he wants to focus on his club for now.
Westwood isn't 100%, neither is Harrison, imo, so I'm not really surprised Westwood has withdrawn.

Atkins hasn't been anywhere near top form for a couple of months and has obvioulsy been carrying an injury. Westwood has a bad knee ligament injury and was not expected back this season and was clearly not fit in those two games.
Mind Harrison is nowhere near fully fit either as he has knee problems.
