| Anyone know if the "8 point try " rule is still part of the Laws of the game? i.e. a player fouled whilst in the act of scoring a try leads to a second attempt at goal from in front of the posts after the conversion attempt.
This used to be relatively common. In recent years I've seen a lot of incidents which should have resulted in the second kick being awarded - but not seen one givenfor years now

There was one last weekend in the NRL semis.
Can't recall seeing one in the SL era here though. The Tomkins/Raynor incident last year should have been one.

| Bradford v Saints earlier on this season. Foster fouled a Bradford player in the act of scoring, so the ref awarded a penalty under the sticks after the conversion.

| As far as i'm aware you don't get an 8 point try if you foul someone in the act of scoring. You only get an 8 point try if you foul a player after they have scored (I think thats the rule anyway)
So the Burrow one yesterday would have been a penalty try, but nothing more. Where as the Foster incident against Bradford was given (rather harshly) as the Bradford player scored, then Foster caught him with the boot.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| One was given in the Souths v Bulldogs NRL semi final last week mate- just he missed one kick so it was still a 6 pt try. And its in the act of scoring. Still part of the game.
Sure wigan also got one v bradford in the cup last year when raynor knocked tomkins out?

Just post rumours on forums:10084.jpg |

| One was awarded against Wakey a few years back, I think Solomona was the offending player. Playing Saints from memory, and I think it was televised.

It is a foul in the act of scoring but it basically depends if the attacker actually scores or not.
For instance the Burrow one last night should have been given as a Penalty Try, as he dropped the ball. If he'd grounded it legitimately it should have been an 8 point Try
