| Instead of Australia, they should compete as Queensland and New South Wales.
Argument one: Realistically we will never rival the Aussies and it damages our sport as the wider public know this. Millions of people will watch some rubbish like sailing or rowing, but not RL, because Britain can win at the former but not the latter.
Argument two: State of Origin is the highest and most intense game in rugby league, not the World Cup or even sadly the Ashes. This way we can combine the two biggest spectacles in our sport, State of Origin with the British - Aussie rivalry.
Imagine it. NZ, NSW, Queensland and England all with a fighting chance of winning the World Cup.
Who's in?

Nah mate I'm not a teacher, I'm in full-time gainful employment!
So what's your idea to save the RL World Cup which is currently an embarrassment? Or just scrap it altogether?

| Why exactly does it need saving and how is it an embarrasment? I'm looking forward to it!

| There seems to be a lot of aggressiona nd intolerance on this website. I thought forums were places to debate ideas? And as far as I know a troll is osmeone who insults other people over the internet, not osmeone who gives any opinion you don't agree with.
I am 25, I've been watching professional rugby league in person since 1994, and the first international game I ever saw live was when we beat them 8-4 at Wembley that same year with 12 men. It was one of the best sporting moments of my life. Of course I am looking forward to the World Cup as I am already a "convert", or more of a lifelong fan. But how will we win new people when there are only two teams who will win, Australia (95%) or NZ (5%). Even if England had a chance, 3 teams with a chance is not a serious World Cup for most of the public.
I'm not saying get rid of Australia for good but we should try something new. We already have Queensland and NSW as great rivals. We already have GB v Exiles so why not GB vs NSW? Why is one fine and the other one ridiculous? Is it such a stretch of the imagination to have GB and NZ in a competition with the Origin teams? It would be great rugby and a competitive tournament.

| How many teams are in with a serious chance of winning the RUWC? A handful but no-one decries their version of the trophy because of it. If we put none international teams in a RLWC (as we did in 2000) then we deserve all the criticism that I can guarantee we'll get by the bucketload. A troll is someone who joins forums to try and stir trouble by continually posting "controversial" opinions.

The RL WC could not really sink lower in terms of public interest or attendances, pretty much only committed RL fans pay any attention.
But if you prefer call the new tournament by another name, not a WC.
Last RU WC Wales had a chance so make it 6 teams? Previously Ireland, and Argentina have a very decent team. So over past 20 years maybe 7 teams with a chance and 8, 9 10 'competitive' teams who could cause an upset. Compare to RL WC, can Fiji, PNG or Wales upset any of the big R even one-off?
By your standards, great pioneers of new thought such as Copernicus, Galileo or Prince Charles, would be considered trolls.

this so-called RL dominance by Oz ? didn't they get beaten by NZ in the last WC ? - just saying like ....
don't know about the Uk or elsewhere but the 2013 WC is eagerly anticipated in the RL areas of France who will be hosting two games - RL is and always will be a minority sport in europe so why try to pretend otherwise ?
regarding having QLD & NSW as separate teams - yes, it could work but then it wouldn't be a 'WC' would it ? But a separate tournament with maybe QLD,NSW,GB & France would be an innovation in europe in say, 2015 ?
BTW - how is Jug Lugs a 'pioneer of new thought' ? the guys a joke FFS !

| It would work well at an Australian based WC.
If you had 4 groups of 4 teams - a group based in Qld with Qld in it - a group based in NSW with NSW in it - a group based in NZ with NZ in it - a group based in PNG with PNG in it - you would maximise crowds and interest.

Whilst losing what little credibility the international game has.

true enough but I can see a GB v QLD & GB v NSW and of course an SOO game as well as games with France or NZ really going down well if played on european soil
just imagine the cream of world RL playing on our doorsteps ?
