I've got my first NRL game live on Friday, going to the Suncorp to see Brisbane vs Gold Coast whilst I'm on holiday.
Anyone been before and recommend a decent watering hole to go before the game?

Traditionally the Caxton Hotel is the place a lot of people go, especially on Origin nights. It's around the corner, about 100m or so from the north eastern corner of the stadium, on Caxton Street.

Hi Sam,
The place to go is the Plough Inn at South Bank, have a few Pure Blonds and a plate full of Wedgies. Well worth the visit. I'm from St Helens and always go there when we visit our eldest Son who lives in Wynnum, during the 2008 World Cup there where loads of England supporters enjoying the experience at the pub and wonderful surrounding environment. hope you enjoy the visit. |

Hi Sam
Stephen my Son lived in Olsen Crescent in Wakerley (Manly) until Feb of this year, he has now moved to Wylde st in Wynnum, We have had many schooners in the Manley Hotel, we used to go to the Wynnum-Manley leagues club, Wally Lewis, Gene Miles and Chris McKenna used to play there, the father of Chris actually drives one of the courtesy buses for the club, he's a really nice guy, its well worth a visit.
We are visiting my son in October for 3 months and are really looking forward to it, Where are you from, England?, catch the train into Brisbane and get off at South Bank station, brilliant place for a day out, especially if you have Kids.
Enjoy your stay.

Caxton, or try the pig and whistle in the main street. There's actually a backpackers bar in the middle of the two that when we went the World Cup in 2008 was $8 (Just less than £4 then) for 4 pints.
