I also agree, when did it become and acceptable part of our game and why can't we review them on replays because it's always seems clear enough when they go to the screen!!!

Basiclly because its not simple a case of "did the ball go forward" but was the ball "propelled forward". Its has been adjudged by the power that be that you cannot tell the momentum of the ball from a slow-motion video play back.

I don't blame the referee's as such, they're never level with play to call them. Touch judges do nothing, offsides and players in touch are referred to the video refs, and they never seem to call for forward passes. May aswell not even have them.

Just look at where a players hands are pointing when the ball is released, if they're in a forward movement then it's easy to spot the forward pass.

Nope, but why do forward passes seem to be let go frequently and potential offsides and feet in touch always go upstairs?

The simple answer to avoid the requirement for complex motion analysis instruments is to rule that the ball should be caught behind the point of release. That way you don't need to work out the physics of the forces involved, you just have to note:
a) where it was released
b) where it was caught
That way, if Billy Whizz lets a pass go at 90 mph it's HIS responsibility to make sure that the ball is not only propelled backwards, but actually goes backwards relative to the point of release.

The basics of this game are simple - no need to faff around with them.

(It won't make any difference to Brent Webbs passing though - I think he's got some physical disability that prevents him passing backwards. He only gets away with it so much 'cos he plays for Leeds)

Forward passes aren't always the touch judges calls but yeah some are missed.

Feet in touch are referred to the VR for clarification by the touch judge who makes the spot. If the technology is present, why not use it? James Child made a few good in touch calls today at the DW; I imagine most would have been referred to the video ref if one was present just to be sure.

God help us, are you John Senior in disguise? It won't be much of a spectator sport if you put your rule in place. Do you realise how far backwards a player running full pelt would have to pass the ball to make it go backwards relative to the point on the ground from which it was passed?!
