Hi all, you may remember me from late last season/during the 4 Nations.
I'm doing an MA in Sports Journalism this year and as a result I'm doing match reports for RL and Football during the year for my site to add to my portfolio. I would appreciate it if you took the time to read them/give me pointers on what I'm doing right or wrong or just gave your thoughts on the games.

Good piece; the only thing I would add is a little summary paragraph at the end anr remember to list the line ups at the end.

I write the odd match report and my advice would be as follows,
1. Don't try to report every set. Look back at what you have written, pick the key sets and elaborate on them. Emphasise how important they were to the outcome of the game.
2. Add some detail and history, do your research, put the game in context.
3. One of the most difficult aspects of what you are trying to do is that you have to be able to submit the finished article. You will get away with the odd typo or gramatical error but;
[iFollowing some excellent defence, by restricting Leeds to within 20 metres from their own line, the Tigers came up with another stroke of good fortune.[/i
The standard of english is not good enough.

All of this - plus it's a bit too long and rather dry; it needs a bit of flavour and something to put the game in context. |
