| Hull KR have launched a £35 a year subscription service that is going to be showing 80 minute games at some point in the week after the game. While Radio Humberside generally commentate on every game whether it be on FM/MW or online.
Now £35 to a supporter of any other club might seem expensive but as a ticket for the north stand is usually £20, travel from anywhere other than the other side of this city is going to be somewhere near £20-60 return journey you are already going to save money if it is just you in the car.
This service can be put easily on to a tv with a HDMI lead or if your tv is really flash then wirelessly conncected (I think even through a PS3 this can be done too). So while you won't get the game live and far from the quality of Sky Sports HD it is still an option for away fans (or pubs even) to see the games at some point in the week.
Do any of you think that this option being so cheap and the fact as rugby league fans you'd probably take the opportunity to watch every HKR game at little over £1 per game (challenge cup games included too) is going to stop away supporters travelling?
I know some fans have had bad experiences at Craven Park and the KC before and I am sure some of you have already decided not to visit again but please keep this purely down to the offer and if all SL clubs were to offer this could clubs find themselves losing out in the long term?
Thanks for your opinions.

| Is this an Iplayer style service with a watch it streamed with no chance of download/saving it for future use?
If not one fan could pay for it, save to a hard format and distribute the games elsewhere. I thought HKR already sold the whole seasons games on DVD as part of one of your seasons ticket packages? Personally I'd love to buy a whole seasons home games to watch & watch again but I'm not prepared to lash out £100+ for such despite it costing me £70 minimum for any of the home games I get to.
In this day & age with the technology available clubs could be making some money out of recorded games, but they need to make it good value so that it doesn't switch fans off to the idea.
Whichever format the HKR one is £35 seems to be very good value

Take a look www.hullkr.tv
The footage is watched directly from the website so no recording and distributing (I'm sure some techy will manage it though!) but the games will be available along with archive games such as the 1983 Queensland game, 1997 Silk Cut Plate final...etc
It is not just the games either it is interviews, comedy scenes with players, interviews with board members..etc On there at the moment is highlights of the HKR academy season too.
At the moment you can watch the Featherstone Friendly and come next week the Wigan friendly will be on, 80mins or just highlights if you can't be bothered to watch it all!!!
As I say I think pubs could make a tidy profit from this as they could put it on their projectors and increase midweek takings. Ok not everyone will be interested in a HKR game but at the end of the day it is rugby league and how many of us go to pub on a Friday or Saturday to watch Sky Sports, how many pay extra for ESPN just to get the NRL! So I guess another game could mean another income stream for pubs in RL areas.

| i think its a cracking idea
i dont think it would affect the hardcore support who go to every match no matter where
i think its aimed at the fans who dont travel

| Would it potentially put off the casual supporter from attending the game though?

| They're only doing what a lot of football teams have been doing for years, and IIRC, Featherstone have done something very similar before.

| The answer to the original question is no. It is a very good additional feature for Hull KR fans but away fans will not pay £35 for a delayed streaming of an away game at Hull KR several days later. I doubt many RL fans would pay that amount of money for live broadcasting of the Grand Final in SKY HD if it was only available on a pay-per-view basis for £35. I certainly would not pay £35 to watch a game I could not attend from the comfort of my own living room, I simply go without check the scores, watch the tries on Boots & All etc or my clubs own short highlights package etc. I accept under the Hullkrtv subscription they would have the facility to watch probably a single camera view of all of Hull KR's other games but I do not think fans of other clubs would get much use out of that. You could turn the question around would an Hull KR fan who is a season ticket holder or regular pay at the gate supporter pay a £35 subscription if they were to miss one home game due to work or holidays etc? Probably not.

| HKRs away support is well over 1.5 million, so a few might be put off. The M62 might be a little less busier too.

Wow absolutely hilarious!
I've signed up to the service, only cost me 30 as I was one of the first to sign up for this season. For Rovers fans who can't get to many games it is a fantastic service

| Thanks for the answers I guess when you look at the fact you've already seen all the tries and highlights by the Wednesday night you're probably not that fussed with seeing the rest of the game especially if you don't support that team. With it being around £50 per away game, per person with fuel, food, ticket, parking...etc even if you don't go to one game as a HKR fan it is worth it but as you say just for one away game it's probably pointless and most could live without it.
I'd still think landlords would be interested as it could probably get a fair number of people in on a generally quiet night.

| If it is going to have any negative effect on attendances, whilst it will be minimal - it could detract the fair-weather fan who goes to three or four a season and tunes into the radio.
