| What conclusion do you draw from this final? Do you think it's yet another failed tournament? Or do you see the many positives that have come from it?
Was a bad performance though, everything that had gone well when we played them a fortnight ago didn't show today!

Needed to be firing on all cylinders @ 1, 6, 7 and 13. Not good enough to control a game when it matters.

| We're just too.............nice! We need a bit of dog in us, a bit of aggression. Why can't we up our intensity levels? We looked like we weren't running with any aggression just happy to hit the line, find the floor and try for a quick ptb but the Aussies wouldn't let us.

Part of the problem is they aren't used to games of high intensity. Those who call for the SC to be scrapped should take note, it'd be even worse normally. Most of the NRL games are close, they also have origin, England can't keep up the intensity because they aren't used to it.

We don't play enough games of intensity because half the teams in SL are essentially a load of bilge, who can only hope to get the odd result now and again when a top side has a really bad off day.
Salary cap doesn't seem to be doing anything to change that one way or the other. Sure, we could make the games more intense (if by intense you mean 'close') by capping every club so that none can be significantly better than Wakefield. But do you think that gets us up to Aussies standards? North West Counties can be intense, Sunday League football can be intense, but it doesn't make it the pinnacle of sport.
Cap shouldn't be removed, but should only have one goal - preventing clubs going bust. Another rule (but not a cap as such) needs to be there to stop one club filling the places outside the top 17 with players who are better than other teams' 1st 17s.
Try to equalize competition using the cap is clould-cuckoo stuff, and a experiment that's absolutely failed. Simply carrying on waiting for the cap to 'work' is crazy. Its failed. Totally. We need innovative thinking to bring the lower clubs UP, not drag the top ones DOWN.

Intensity in matches started to drop off in Superleague around 2007 onwards when the play the balls started slowing down.
We need to speed up the game so that defences and offences get on top of each other quicker. We can,t react to pressure over long periods, internationally we can do it for one game but not consistently.

The play of the ball is much slower in the NRL yet they have higher intensity games.

Last week England created virtually nothing and looked lost close to the opposition line, and those problems weren't rectified today. England were no worse tonight than last week, the difference is that they were playing against a far better side.

Your dead right on that Old Faithful and you can see how they compensate for slow play the balls with lightning fast attacking moves. Forget all the duff about SL being more exciting, how good are the Aussies with ball in hand, be it hitting up or moving it around the pitch.
That is where we lack intensity, it attack. Their play the balls were faster because they wanted to play it, we took an age sometimes to regain our feet without a defender being on us.
