I'd like to give some context to Leigh's current struggles, for those that are unaware of the circumstances surrounding the situation.

Earlier this season, our Chairman and financier Arthur Thomas was forced to tender his resignation due to the folding of his two companies, which were forced out of business by a very large creditor going bankrupt.

Because of Arthur Thomas' withdrawal, our budget for the season was left in tatters.

The board and acting CEO have worked very hard to reduce the outgoings and to increase our income streams. Obviously, this is very difficult to do in the middle of the season whilst still avoiding administration.

We have done our very best to fully meet our obligations, but we found ourselves in a situation that meant a grand final appearance was necessary for us to comfortably get through the off-season. Missing out has left us in a situation where a (publicly unknown) amount is required to meet those obligations. Hopefully we will soon know what the shortfall is. It wasn't in our original budget that we would reach finals, but that original budget was soon rendered meaningless.

We have a budget in place for next season that will allow us to function within our means, and without a
'white knight'.

So this is where we find ourselves, with a difficult short term situation that we need to get through. If we do, we can stand on our own feet and survive.

being honest though it is sad that leigh have got into this hole but did not see any sympathy for the other teams when they were in the same situation you cut your cloth acordingly did not see leigh trying to offload players mid season to try and reduse out goings and they were also done for the same thing, last years cap was breached for not getting the budget right merge with swinton

We did offload players in mid season in as much as we sold Chris Hill to Warrington (who then continued to play for us on dual contract) and did not enter negotiations with any players who's contracts are due to expire.

You didn't see any sympathy from us for other teams? Just ask roughyedspud and some of the Crusaders fans what the Leigh fans have said to them about their plight.

How you offload contacted players to clubs with no money I will never know, we sold our stars in Ellis and Hill. Govins contact was terminated, the rest were contracted to the end of the year, they paid their winning bonus for the NRC into the clubs coffers too.

Admire the enthusiasm but can't see this having the same effect as #savethecru...#justsayin
