Can someone confirm for me whether the players can vote for anyone they like or whether they are themselves given a shortlist to choose from, such as the Dream Team list?

My understanding is the players vote for who they want, then from that a top 3 is created, and the players then cast their vote again for who they think should win out of the top 3.

i was of the understanding that the players voted from a shortlist.

Would be funny if Roby won it.

Wigan fans will then dismiss it as a glorified popularity competition, despite having demanded MOS be decided by the players when Roby won it on a journalist vote over Trent "did he ever play against Saints" Barrett (when Barrett won players' player of the year).

No doubt we'd hear how the journalists suddenly know more than the players again after Tomkins won writers' player of the year and fellow players just don't like him.



FWIW I think the players will vote for Tomkins and couldn't argue with that decision.

I know a lot of the Saints players voted Sam, so if they are willing to do so, I can't see anyone else winning it.

Possibly because its a myth that he's disliked by the other players.

Roby to win it for me, but think sam will win

I don't think many would disagree with that list. It must be a great feeling as a player to have your fellow pro's vote that they think you're the best player.

Sam for me, just over Roby.

I am suprised Micheal Monaghan isn't in it, he'd get my vote (if I had one)

My understanding is that they can vote for anyone APART from players at their own club. A shortlist is then made up of the ones with the most votes.

Wellens said in his column in the local newspapers a couple of weeks ago that he had voted for Tomkins.
