As a rugby league fan I would just like to thank Gary Broadbent for his great services to the sport

he has been the model player and an example to all,bringing great credit to our sport

it was a privelege to be present to witness his last game - the last act of the game was to allow him to kick the final conversion in the last minute in the sunshine of Toulouse

a fitting end to a distinguished career

Salford Signed Gary Broadbent from Widnes 1997 for ( still a club record ) £55,000
he went on to play 140+ games for the reds , warranting his inclusion in '100 Salford Greats' .
Always a rock in defence Gary was the bravest Fullback I've ever seen , always putting his body on the line game after game , the fact that he has gone on to play on for almost a decade after leaving the Reds , putting in sterling service for Whitehaven and 76 games for his hometown Club is a testimony to his ability to all his Clubs .

Gary Always got a great ovation from the Willows faithfull on his returns so if you're free next Sunday Gary come down and give the old girl one final goodbye .
