| Yorkshire vs Lancashire Origin series with tickets included with the purchase of any season ticket.
1 game series as a selection tool for the 2012 England vs ANZAC Allstars.
Gives England players the chance to go into camp with different players, experiencing new environments, playing infront of capacity crowds at the likes of the Millenium Stadium, Murrayfield, Elland Road, Old Trafford or Twickenham.
England would benefit from this massively with a real intense origin game, the RFL would get a proper showpeice event that would enable them to gain more partners, companies and money into the game, the likes of Ben Harrison get to see if they can cut it for their adopted county and the players would get to focus on a proper test in the new War of the Roses Origin series.
1 game series, with this fixture replacing the Magic weekend so no additional fixtures. Selected players stood down the week before to ensure top condtioning of players. Free tickets as part of your rugby league season ticket ensures a full house. Yorkshire vs Lancashire (and the rest) ensures a real intense rivalry both on and off the pitch. Selection for the match around a month later against the ANZAC Allstars up for grabs and also the Four Nations.
A viable, workable and worthwhile plan?

| Given how only a few people recognise Lancashire as anything bar a cricket team and a county around Blackburn, I can't see there ever being enough passion in it when only one side is bothered.
It'd be the same rubbish, pathetic crowd and injury pullouts all over the shop.

Lancashire could very readily be replaced by the North West. Think many fans of St Helens, Wigan and Warrington are very proud of where they come from in the world. Rugby League fans aren't slow to turn down a freebie either.

| I like the idea, but the previous Yorkshire V Lancashire games didn't generate much excitement, and where would the likes of LMS, & Tony Clubb fit in. I seem to remember Dom Peters becoming an honorary Lancastrian last time.
A mid season international of England V Anzac all stars would be a great idea. A selection of the best Australian and New Zealanders plying their trade in the Superleague would be a better test for England than the usual walk-overs against France or Wales.

| Would it be based on where you were born or on where you played your first pro rugby (a la origin). If it is on birth what do prospective internationals born outside lancashire/yorkshire (presumably you mean the old boundries as Wigan is in Greater Manchester, St Helens in Merseyside and Warrington in Cheshire)? If it's on where you played your first club rugby what about quins players?

| Why can't they use something more modern like WEST Origins v EAST Origins instead of the outdated old Lancashire v Yorkshire.

| I agree with Judder. Then it includes all of the areas. Cumbria, Wales, London the lot.

| Because no-one cares about being from the East or the West, that's why it wouldn't work.
For an event to work, you need to have a large amount of people that have some kind of attachment or allegiance to a team (or the event itself). Things like "East vs West" won't achieve this. Yorkshire vs Lancashire will only interest those from the north, and very few from the North West (due to boundary changes affecting who considers themselves from where these days). "Possibles vs Probables" and "two coaches pick..." again, who do you support? Who do you attach yourself to?
It's important to have trial games, I agree. But this is why people have international friendlies. If you want to test players out, let them play for England against a lower nation. Doesn't have to be for an international cap all the time. People have an allegiance to the teams in question then. This is what the club sides do.
If you want to test your strongest players, you need appropriate competition. Unfortunately, over here there is limited options for that.
We will probably never have an Origin type match on the scale of the Aussies because we don't have defined boundaries that people care about enough to support in large enough numbers to simulate the test arena. The only way we can simulate this is by building up the England team and giving them regular opponents.

| Possibly the worst idea I've ever read on these boards.
So where will be the central point by which you determine east and west?
Castleford is west of Hull.. so do they come under 'west' or 'east'?
Bradford looks pretty central... so are they classed as east or west?
Warrington is east of Wrexham... yet its west of Leeds

In the spirit of being pendantic. There should be no Yorkshire representative team either, since in 1974 Yorkshire ceased being an unified county in its own right.
So, you would have technically the following counties in the present day; West Yorkshire where most ex-Yorkshire teams are based, plus Hull FC/KR from East Riding Of Yorkshire. Those counties being distinct from one another and no way connected in any modern official sense.

Put it this way, in a hypothetical situation, where Merseyside and Lancashire were at war with each other. I would defer and help kick its backside back into the mersey.
