Watched him against the Bulldogs (thank god for MSK!!) in only his 2nd game for Melbourne but looks a good prospect at FB, certainly better than anyone we have at the moment. Get him in the England set-up against France?

Because of 2 first grade games??? What is the point in that, the fullback for the France game needs to be someone who actually has a chance of going to the 4 nations. |

I know he's in the squad but i dont agree with it. Yes he's got alot of potential, but i cant believe they are considering a guy who has only every played 2 first grade games.

Didn't the Kiwis cap Krishnan Inu after one NRL game? Besides we won't have to pay for Widdop's airline ticket or his hotel. He can stay at his mum's. With a bit of luck the Widdop's can put up a couple of others whilst they are at it. More money saved means more money to share out at the end of the 4N.

Dont get me wrong, I think the guys got a future. Unlike most who are praising ive actually seen him play more than twice. Watched him alot last season in the Toyota Cup and you can tell he's got tons of potential. But thats all it is right now, potential This will be a great experience for him, but as far as the 4 nations go I would be very shocked if he played.

Yeah I saw him heaps in the toyota cup last season but you never know how they will take first grade but he doesn't seem fazed by it all.
It's not like we have multiple talents at full back (the best prospect we had was Chris Ashton IMO and a real shame he left) and the fact that Widdop seems to be able to attack and defend as opposed to one or the other means that despite only 2 first grade games a chance to play in a fairly meaningless friendly which should be an easy win with no pressure is the ideal place to take a look at him.
And I think 2 first grade games doesn't mean too much when you are behind Billy Slater, if he was at a club further down the ladder or a SL club he would have had plenty of games by now I have no doubt.

| Can’t see anyone competing with him for the England fullback position including Richard Owen when he comes back from Injury.
Lets hope he carries on playing under Billy Slater at Melbourne and eventually over take him as their number one fullback.
