There is no doubt that Morley caught him a beauty, but the bigger question for me is; would the english ref have sent him off if he had been Australian? Even more interesting; would and Australian ref have sent an Australian off?

I'm not fishing - its a genuine concern.

I read that one, apparently the ref blew the whistle for kick off and the player nearest to him said "****, that was loud" and got sent off for foul language!

But in RL Morley will take some beating.

I believe a player was once sin-binned in an old Alliance fixture as the teams were lining up for the kick-off because he hadn't removed some padding the officials had deemed unsuitable/dangerous when they were doing the pre-match kit inspection.

I remember a Hull KR versus Rochdale match from a few years ago where a Rochdale player was sent off straight from the kickoff!

It is possible (though I can't remember it happening) for someone to be sent off before kick off. Somebody fighting in the tunnel whilst waiting to run out for example. So it would be possible to get sent off quicker than Morley. That (an offence committed in the tunnel) may be what happened to cause the 1 second sending off.

Similarly a player can get a red card for an offence after the final hooter, if they hit someone whilst walking off the pitch or swore at the ref after the game ended for example they could still be red carded and face being banned.

Yep, that happened with Craig Stapleton for us last year against Catalans. He was actually on the bench at the end of the game as well. He came back onto the pitch after the hooter went and went over to the ref to complain and got himself sent off in the process.

I think the soccer send off was Vinny Jones whilst playing for Leeds.

Ref blew whistle, Jones sprinted toward the two players on the centre spot and did a two footed, studs first lunge at the ball and missed.

Ref red carded him.

Players can also be sent off whilst on the subs bench. This happened a few years ago in an academy match between Featherstone & Warrington when one of Warrington's subs ran on to the pitch to join in a brawl. The offocials took some stick from some Featherstone fans after the game because Warrington had 13 players on the pitch for the whole game.

as an aside I witnessed the quickest ever interchange.

A player was interchanged within seconds of the whistle starting the game.
