| tedious link time here, but the team I coached were the inaugaral winners of this event, Our name is on that shield, West Bank Bears ARLFC.
We obviously went the 1st year and it was fantastic then, We returned to defend it (but didnt manage too) and was better again, I can only imagine how good it is now. The caravan site every team stays on is brilliant at night, great banter etc, All in all a fab weekend and glad its continued to thrive!

| Whereabouts in Scarborough is the tournament held?
Hopefully this'll pave the way for a Scarborough SL franchise in 2018
On a serious note, I think the town could support a Championship/Championship 1 side, it's not asif there are any decent sports teams on the Yorkshire coast to follow.

| Scarborough Pirates play in the RLC so there are the beginnings at least over there.

| Scarborough is mainly a rugby Union Heartland but as Mike said their have beginnings. From what I’ve gathered this area really has a potential to host the next Celtic Crusaders in Super League who in their second season are now a success.
Its an area mainly deprived of rugby league. But once the league drug is spoon fed to the locals it’ll be an addiction for life.

When we went, It was held at Pindar High School. We had the entire team in 4 caravans next to each other, Altogether, Away from parents. Some real good laughs. Had the kids down onto Scarborough beach for training early morning, Lots of tasks and games, forfeits into the freezing sea etc, Really good team building weekend. The Friday night was a late one without question, Giddy kids loads of antics but train them early morning, They play in the afternoon and you bet they were in bed asleep by 8pm.

Not really, there has been primary schools rugby league for closing on two decades. The number of schools competing has varied but it can be 10 or more including a few village school teams from surrounding district.
I think the RFU have had a development officer around in the last couple of years doing some stuff but before that there was no RU primary school activity going on while the RL was.
The secondary schools and colleges have been nominally union during this time. I think there has been a bit of RL at one of them though in the last few years due to a rugby league teacher and the Champion Schools comp.

Spot on.
I lived there for ages 10 to 20. Played lots of RL while at primary school, lots of tournaments etc, then as soon as I got to secondary school it was all union. I know of one high school that now plays league, mainly due to the lads from one year who played for the Pirates, pestering the PE Dept. It's far from a RU hotbed though.

| I think Damo means they are succeeding relative to what they did the previous season and relative to the club that were promoted alongside them rather than suggesting they are setting the league alight. The Crusaders are a relative success (so far) as crowds have improved and on the field they have won more games already with half of the campaign still to play and have progressed while Salford, the club that came up with them have not progressed.

History says you're wrong - they didn't support it when they had a pro team in the past.
