| being wealthy and what you are willing to put in of your own money is quite different. As I said their budget is only mid table, around $15million. If they were really that rich they would be matching Melbourne and Brisbane at around the $20-22million.
Everyone one knows that there is no such thing as rich leagues clubs now and even the biggest are slashing the grants they give to their NRL clubs.

| speaking of gus, his ignorance of english RL is amazing
commentating on the wests / canberra game he referred back to 2000 when it snowed in a similar fixture saying it was the first time it had snowed in the history of RL!

the roosters save money on juniors
if there was no cap they could afford to pay much more than currently

The art of Rugby League Tactics According to Dally Messenger
"Just use dummy runners": |
|
| I can see both sides of the argument. Abolishing the cap would result in the team with the richest backer dominating, whilst keeping the cap, means the talent is more evenly distributed. That said, in australia there is plenty of talent to go around.

| Quote: "In round figures, the NRL brings in about $150 million in revenue each year. The clubs receive just over $50m of this money. The salary cap for each club is more than $4m, yet the clubs receive just over $3m in grants.
At the end of the year there is no money left - so it all gets spent. Which means it costs almost $100m to run rugby league in this country. Please.
'"
These figures do seem scandalous, what does the other $100m get spent on?
What happend to that independant commision talk that was going to take over running the NRL? Has it happend?

that wasn't the argument, the argument was if they could spend more than any one else. Clearly given their income is only mid table they wouldn;t be able to go out and sign every star player.
The IC is coming, probably happen in the off season or just after SOO imo. Most of the blocks have been removed and just deciding on how to vote people on and off now.
Salary cap is a good thing but should be higher, around the $6mill. Why it costs more than $10mill to run an NRL club and only $4mill to run a SL club I still haven't worked out? As said why it costs $100mill to run the NRL is a mystery to me as well!
