| Anybody going to watch this tonight?
To be quite honest I find it so boring to watch a game of mostly Rugby Union lads with names like Henry attempting to play Rugby League.

| i've thoroughly enjoyed the last few.
I couldnt give a rats who plays the game or what their names are as long as they are playing the greatest game.

| I tend to go with the latter view, although I have great sympathy for the former.

I knew a few of the players when i was at (a much less prestigious) Uni, they all couldn't stand Union then, and i suspect the same is true now

| I have always enjoyed watching the game and will watch it again. You are misguided about "Henrys" some of these players have never played union. Besides what is wrong with people who play/played other sports playing rugby league.

I usually go (get in free with my Quins season ticket) but can't make tonight for various reasons. Your stereotypes may be well practised, but they're generally wide of the mark, the players do actually play RL on a regular basis, and so what if some of them may play RU too, some of them may also play, darts, snooker, soccer, waterpolo, it's irrelevant to the subject at hand.
The atmosphere is pretty good as the Oxford and Cambridge fans really rip into each other with the banter, and generally the players raise their games, but yes they are amateurs, but if like me, you get enjoyment from watching RL at amateur level as well as professional level then there's nowt to moan about apart from moaning for moaning sake.

Though your post suggests that is could be enjoyable to actually be at the game itself, I'm talking from a televised perspective.
Is the game worth being televised? I love playing/watching amateur Rugby League in Wigan every weekend but wouldn't expect games to be shown on television because it's of an amateur standard. The varsity game is the same except the game is being played by two posh universities.

| It's normally good to watch, it can just be a bit frustrating that the finishing can be somewhat poor. There's decent build up then the ball ends up on the floor.
Speaking of varsity matches, isn't Salford Uni v Manchster Uni on the telly some time soon?

| They should show some of the better uni teams instead of the Varsity game. What is the reason for showing the Varsity game every year anyway?

The whole of RLFANS didn't enter the discussion last year, you'll just have to do your best to get through it.

Yes, but it's not being shown live though. I think the game is this Monday but being shown on Channel M on Tuesday evening.
