| Footy ruins the pitches, same with the KC, after the football has finished the pitch is perfect.

One stand was closed off and the stand left on the popular side was crammed. There was definitely about 8000 there.
Cas never seem to bring too many up to Odsal anyway, plus with the horrendous weather and it being on Sky that will have reduced it somewhat.

| I love it when footy teams blame rugby, but the damaged parts are the centre circle and the penalty areas

| Hull's groundsman did an article a couple of years ago about the pitch at the KC. This was at the height of the rugby ruins the pitch rubbish going on at the KC. He basically said that it is football that ruins pitches due to concentrated areas of play (as Simon has stated above) and slide tackles which pulls the grass out by the roots.
Rugby is not totally blameless but it does minimal damage when compared.

| Anyone that thinks that the Odsal pitch is bad now obviously didnt see many matches played there at this time of year prior to "summer" rugby! Although in truth in those days very few matches could be played there at this time of year.
The problem with dual code pitches is that the rugby starts just when those pitches are at their most fragile. You only need one game played in heavy rain to decimate them. Most soccer pitches (especially those outside the PL) are looking worse for wear now, particularly after the weather we've had. But by restricting their use to once a fortnight the groundsmen can just about get away with it.
The state of the Wigan or Odsal pitches wouldnt have raised an eyebrow 15 years ago, expectations have increased enormously in recent years.

so its cas`s fault there was only 8k last night, cas took around 1500 last night and imo there didnt look anything like 8k in the ground, maybe the weather and it been on sky had an impact on the crowd but id say from a cas point of view cas dont travel to odsal in numbers is because its quite simply the worst ground bar none for watching a game of rugby, awful view, poor atmosphere, bad for parking and you after be fit enough to do a 10k run just to get in and out of that hole.
