Another RFL blunder yesterday before the game. The Union boys had one so why didnt we.

Theres no such thing as Memorial weekend - Rememberance Day and Armistice Day yes but no memorial weekend which sounds somewhat American to me ...

Both teams wore poppies on their strip to show the fallen are remembered. I agree, the 2 minute silence today and again on the 11th are the official ones.

Armistice Day is Wenesday the 11th

Perhaps because it isn't remembrance day until the 11th? And they did wear poppies on their shirts.

The two minutes silence is at 11 on the Sunday. I'm surte like me you al observed it. There is a further minute silence on 11/11 at 11am.

The poppy worn on the shirts was accompanied by a financial contibution to the British Legion- you can't wear a poppy without that.

So all angles covered there. We all have a two minutes silence on Sunday, England and NZ (who lost considerable numbers in both World Wars protecting us Europeans) made a contribution to the British Legion. We should all continue tro do this and remember, league is the game where you see soldiers represented on a regular basis, and we should all give what we've got to them if they are raising money for comraids and go out to support them if they are coming home from service abraod. I'm proud of Tomkins et al. but no where near as much as our fighting lads abroad.

None of this of course accounts for the extra hours- nay days- of silence on this board from our friends down under since saturday.

I did notice the poppies on the shirt. But just about every other major football & rugby game in the country had its silence yesterday, so im just abit surprised there wasnt one at Huddersfield.

seems the planning of the pre match stuff has generally been poor all round. Agree a minutes silence followed by the Last stand and then a rousing rendition of Land of Hope and Glory would have been just what was needed.
