The World cup only has one sweetheart. Both Fifa and Uefa treat their qualifying competitions as just that. Qualifying comps distinct from the finals. Thats why all the stats and records are for the WC finals only. Just Fontaines records number fo goals in a world cup does not count those scored in qualifying.

In the world cup, those competitions are actually administered by two different organisations. The World Cup qualifiers are administered by the continential body. I.E Uefa, Where as the finals are a FIFA competition.

I don't doubt the intent nor the ambition of clubs like Fev, Leigh, Fax or anyone else for that matter. What I do worry about is the "belief" as conveyed by the Fev chairman/CEO last year when London wobbled, they 'they were ready for SL".

Featherstone Rovers and Halifax are 2 of the better supported clubs in the KPC this year. 2 Great Clubs with proud traditions that are separated by 25 miles managed to attract 2,583 fans last weekend. This is far more than the London Broncos can muster, but it is not even close to being enough to support a team in the top flight.

The issue faced by Leigh, Featherstone and the other clubs who "aspire" to play at the highest level is that the London Broncos have a benefactor that has thrown close to £13,000,000 at the club in the last 5 years and although short sighted and suicidal may be very apt terms when describing Mr Hughes and his flushing cash down the toilet, it shows the level of investment that a club on even a 6k average will need to attract to have any chance of being competitive. The biggest problem is that even a 6k average wont happen overnight...it will take a few years, so whilst the club do everything in their power to get fans to come to games.....who's going to pick up the tab to make sure they stay competitive until they become self sufficient?

Growing your own is all well and good, but the reality is that if a Wigan or a Leeds come knocking, these young lads will be sold to the SL top 6. Growing your own takes time and as we saw last year in the cup, the home grown Fev and Sheffield lads were no match for the worst team in SL.

Hey.....more power to their elbow if they manage to get into the top tier, but I can see more clubs going bust in that middle 8 section than just Crusaders, Bradford and Wakey in the last 6 years.
