There’s a reason why two of the clubs voted for Club 12 to only get £800,000 funding......they don’t want Club 12 to be competitive. I feel at the moment that Leigh would be, and could possibly finish 10th or 11th putting those two clubs who voted for lower funding at risk. I want Leigh to go up just to see some clubs reactions if Leigh do actually survive!

It might be biased but there’s only one club in this process that gives the same things (maybe more) as Leigh off the field. But a lot worse on it especially given the timeframe to build an SL team and that’s Bradford.

I don’t think for 1 minute that Leigh would finish bottom and I do believe that there is some tactical thinking behind hoping Leigh are not the twelfth team, as there are atleast 2 teams in superleague who would and will be under some pressure,,, so let’s get behind Leigh going up yessssssssss

Which Lancashire team would that be then Mo? eusa_think.gif I assume you're
alluding to the team that has reached a Grand Final and a Challenge Cup Final in the past 2 seasons?

BTW, we're cureeny debt-free since the CVA elapsed so on a better financial footing now than we have been in a good few years. So we'll just keep on surviving and pi$$ing people off for a few years yet thanks mate. icon_biggrin.gif icon_thumb.gif

Bradford ? I love John Kear as a coach but really ? Could be 0-23 if Bradford go up. Is that good for the game ?'"

Like 2020, 2019, 2018 etc etc then according to the average SL fan then. icon_rolleyes.gif

BTW, we're all $hitting ourselves at the thought of Leigh back in SL.... I mean last time you were up here I recall a few of your fans predicting a top 4-6 finish. icon_lol.gif I fear for the future of my great club if the mighty Leythers take their rightful place back where they belong! icon_cry.gif

I don’t get replies like this. Mo was on about a team with financial struggles who might not survive. What the hell has reaching a GF or a CC final got to do with that? You know you can reach a final and still go bust? You can even win a few and be world champions and still go bust icon_lol.gif

I hope the debt free is true. Awful seeing any team in debt. And I hope you do survive, if the rumours are true though (and hopefully they aren’t) it might not happen. I’d say the only reason you’ve done well the past two years is Watsons ability to get the best out of average players and has a knack of picking up some decent/very good signings. Can Marshall do the same? I doubt it. Hope you prove people wrong though!

Now,just tell me (clearly with evidence) why Leigh shouldn't be the 12th team? If you you think the squad isn't strong enough, please explain why, bearing in mind there would be further additions to the 23 already signed up.'"

Leigh have to be miles in front of the other candidates.

Toulouse will add nothing as they will just become another Catalans if they have money which they do not and no crowds either. The Bradford business plan is shall we say "optomistic" I would agree albeit personally I'd risk that. Fev's SL ambitions collapsed when Nahaboo walked and I can't see what has changed there for them to suddenly be a real contender. Great new Stadium at York but I'm not sure of their private backing, or how thet have any edge over Leigh?

Leigh are however 100% proven having already been in Superleague, beating Wigan and saints and not coming bottom, good modern ground, better crowds than four other SL clubs had, and a public assurity in terms of investment as Mr. Beaumont has laid it on the line he'll pump the money in, and has in the past put that money where his mouth is.

Beaumont is a very safe pair of hands for next year, but as the Bulls seem the prize SL seek, then I'm pleased he's committed to going up the year after.....

I've enjoyed the fantastic Salford ride, long may it continue. If the Reds have managed to shake off all the debts then they still need to balance the books going forward. I read one of your directors saying that there's little commercial income coming in, so you will need the crowds. Let's hope they come, good luck.

Not sure where to begin with this but the brief Nahaboo era - which ended over 6 years ago - was the least convincing at Fev in the last 10 years and the club is in a much better place now.

The idea of Fev "suddenly becoming a real contender" is ridiculous when along with Leigh they have been clearly the standout team in the Championship over the last ten years.

On the field, Fev probably have the strongest case amongst the six teams, having beaten Leigh, York and Toulouse to reach the playoff Grand Final against Toronto last year. They've beaten Leigh four of the last five times they've played them, and hammered York three of the four times they played them last year.

Off the field Fev are now run on similar lines to a SL club, with a Chairman, CEO, Football Manager and Finance Manager. Sponsorship is thriving, as are sales from the new Super Store, and the club was able to report an operational surplus of over £40,000 for the year ending December 2019. For as long as Mark Campbell has been in charge his whole purpose has been to get Fev into SL so talking of Fev's ambitions in that regard having "collapsed" is baffling.
