not really. Yearly P+R in this format or the previous ones used are almost exclusive to European Soccer. Outside that most major sports dont have anything comparable.

The NFL has a league then play off structure, the football world cup has a league then play-off structure, the Champions league has a league then play-off structure, as does the NBA, NHL, NRL, RUWC, RLWC.

The Cricket World cup has a very wierd system that kind of has two leagues parts of it but its universally derided as a pretty crappy system.

it takes more than that to be a pro RL player. As i said, you can call them pro if you want. But it doenst change the fact. If someone paid me to be an RL player, i still wouldnt make an professional RL player
