Despite the first attempt failing Hull FC have made a second bid for badly tattooed Australian / Maltese dual code player Jarrod Sammut.
www.thisishullandeastriding.co.u ... ticle.html
Despite Sammut looking quite impressive during his short spell in Super League I can't see why Hull FC want him so badly.
It's obvious to all that as soon as Sammut attracts attention from an NRL club he will suddenly become all "homesick" and be on his way to the airport faster than Matt Orford.

| I don’t get this Sammut bandwagon.
Before he came to S.L, did he get a gig in the NRL, or was it the Toyota thingy?
Surely Hull F.C can attract someone of a higher quality than this?

| Looks like we're getting desperate, if you see our squad you can see why (only 20 seasoned pros and 1 of them is very likely to be out for the start of the season). I'd like to see Sammut come in not least of all because he'll add a little creative spark to our team which we desperately lack but if we're paying a fee I'd like to see him come in longer than 1 year but as you say, if an NRL team comes sniffing he'll be gone (see his twitter for confirmation). I don't think he'll end up coming though as their CEO would look pretty stupid after what he said on the website.

This close to the start of the season? And a half back at that?

I have no idea what your club does to your players during the off season but it seems to me that come the start of the new season Hull FC always seem to have more injuries than the rest of SL put together before a ball has been kicked.
Haven't seen his Twitter page, have you got the link please? Is he already saying he will go home if an NRL club want him?
Hull FC must want their collective heads examining if they are even THINKING about signing a player who has indicated he will go back to Australia as soon as he can. Far better for all concerned if he stays at Crusaders.

| Well it's obvious that if Hull are chasing another "aussie"/golden oldie they are admitting that in the strong area of RL (Hull and District) that out of all the clubs, youngsters, acadamys etc, their development system is not capable of producing the goods.
That surely has to be the wrong message to send.

Is this interest due to Berrigans departure?
It’s a shame he took so long to make his decision, however he was a shadow of his former self, whilst in S.L.

Didn't another 'couldn't get a gig in NRL' scrum half get into the SL dream team two seasons on the trot. He looks a good player, he is worth the risk.

He’s o.k.
But IMO he’s well down the list compared to many other SL clubs.
I’m sure if F.C. had known about Berringans departure in the off-season, they could have improved on their last minute efforts.

Yeah lets forget about the youngsters we have already helped produce and released into Super League.
Dimwit.
This whole rumour is worse then the Briers / Sculthorpe to Hull rumours. Its basically the HDM trying to sell papers, we are in the market for a young half back for a number of reason. We may have made an Enquiry but that doesn't mean we are setting our stall out to sign the player.

There's actually a decent few, with our injury record being as it is, and also having at least Radford and Horne out for the start of the season.

Kirk Yeaman, Tom Briscoe, Richard Horne, Danny Houghton, Lee Radford, Danny Washbrook, Reece Lyne and then 7 others who have squad numbers, but are less likely to be granted. So out of the 27 players given a squad number (and not including Westerman who you could debate Hull ' helped produce') Hull FC have 14 out of 27 players who they brought through.
