"An outstandingly persistent and successful performer," was my understanding. Now maybe I am wrong, but that was the meaning that I meant to convey.
In any case any uncertainty or dispute over its meaning does not constitute a grammatical error.

| JEAN CAPDOUZE you are one bold character but sadly Vastman is right, you're an idiot. PNG players, recently have been exciting to watch as an international outfit but split them up and I think you'll find they will be outed for exactly what they are... mediocre utter rubbish.

Vastman the only thing I can say is give it a rest lado, if you're wrong you're wrong.
Adrian Lam may have moved to Aus at the age of 7, correct however he still spent 7 vital years in Rabaul where he really made a name for himself by perfecting his trade as a profound halfback. Danny Brough isn't Scottish, he's a Yorkshire man but Adrian Lam is a proud, PROUD PNG INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE.
Good Day.

Where in my quote did I say he was a product of PNG RL? Jean was on about PNG players who have been a good servants to rugby league. I mentioned Lam as he is a born and bread Papua New Guinean. Not sure what kind of reference to Danny Brough you are trying to make as he was born in Dewsbury. Lam IS PNG, Brough ISN'T Scottish.

Fantastic. Ignore the rest of the post. Of course he can. Early exposure to the game and the culture of PNG has obviously helped mould him into the young lad he was when he went. Yes he left PNG at 7, but think, how much of that was playing RL with his friends, sharing the passion of the country for the game, and potentially even playing a season or more in the juniors (I have my first exposure to RL as a baby, first shirt as a baby and first game at 6 years old when I became eligible for the Under 7's).
He himself stated in The Independant in 1995 - "The biggest difference is Lam himself. His family might have left PNG for Brisbane when he was seven, but he has always regarded himself as a Papua New Guinean, That attachment to his roots was tested earlier this year when an outstanding series at scrum-half for Queensland in the State of Origin matches gave him a real chance of selection for Australia. Lam turned his back on that prospect. I just couldn't let the people in PNG down, he said".
He's a PNG lad who is in the category of the likes of Stanley Gene who have already made a fantastic contribution to the UK game. Let's hope Mead and the Albert brothers do the same this season too.

I don't give a stuff how ethnically and culturally attached to PNG he is, that's his business.
You may have a point with Gene, but Lam!
The point you are missing on a monumental level is that his RL heritage is almost 100% Australian, the PNG element is tiny unless you're seriously suggesting the one year he may have spent playing park rugby as a six year old kid was in any way significant in which case you're bonkers. He IS A PRODUCT OF THE AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS/CLUB SYSTEM end of.

You don't give a stuff. Fair enough. But I'm saying if he feels that way then maybe the PNG culture and influence in his early life encouraged him to take up RL. I never said anywhere he was A PRODUCT of the PNG system.
His heritage is PNG. Born in PNG. He is a Papua New Guinean. Even if he played his rugby in Australia he is a PNG national. Unlike say Luke Page who is born is Australia and plays for PNG.
Jean put this "As for the past PNG contributors to Super League we have not only Paul Aiton, but also the tyro Stanley Gene, Makali Aizue and the champion winger Marcus Bai".
It doesn't say products of the PNG system who contributed to SL does it? It simply says PNG contributors. Is Lam a Papua New Guinean? Without a doubt he is. Did he contribute to Super League? Yes. He was one of the best halves in the British game at the time. So please stop picking arguments that aren't there and just accept that my point still stands. Lam is a Papua New Guinean and has contributed to SL.

To be fair he was quoting me there. Simple spelling mistake. We all do it. But the fact he had to highlight it instead of accepting that I was right shows his mentality and mental capacity for good conversation.

Have a different opinion that is fine. But when Jean put this "As for the past PNG contributors to Super League we have not only Paul Aiton, but also the tyro Stanley Gene, Makali Aizue and the champion winger Marcus Bai".
And then I put Lam and backed it up with this argument:

Then it is not having a difference of opinion. It is fact that Lam is a Papua New Guinea and it is fact he is a PNG contributor to Super League. And yet again, you never seem to actually answer the post, just accept that you have no argument here. And no opinion to be had. Fact is fact.

Oh ffs stop being a big baby. I highlighted 'bread' to make my point I never actually noticed you'd spelt it wrong and because of that I spelt it wrongly as well. I don't need to bring up spelling errors to win this argument so get over yourself.
Again you are either wilfully missing the point as regards La or you're plain stupid.
Fact regardless of any other factors he is a product of the AUSTRALIAN system not the PNG club scene that is a FACT end of!
Yes Stanley Gene (especially) and a few others have made a small contribution too SL but it's small. You couldn't create a SL team if you lumped them all together in fact you could barely make a team full stop.
If you wish to fantasise about the importance of PNG players to SL be my guest but don'y expect those with the ability to reason to go along with you. Some of us see things as they are not how we wish them to be.
Just to hammer home the point Lam is a product of the AUSTRALIAN system, I thank you. ![CHILL chillpill.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//chillpill.gif)

Quote ="vastman"Again you are either wilfully missing the point as regards La or you're plain stupid. Fact regardless of any other factors he is a product of the AUSTRALIAN system not the PNG club scene that is a FACT end of!'"
Again with the attempted insults. I did not miss the original point that Jean made. He clearly stated PNG contributors to Super League. Lam is a PNG contributor to Super League. Regardless of which system he came through. I was merely agreeing with Jean's statement and adding Lam to the list of PNG contributors. Which he is. Fact. Then you came along and tried to cause an argument over pretty much nothing.
Quote ="vastman"Yes Stanley Gene (especially) and a few others have made a small contribution too SL but it's small. Please point out the exact place in any of my replies where I have specifically said PNG players have been massively important to SL or anywhere where I have stated anything other than they have been PNG contributors. Except where I have stated that Lam was one of the best halfbacks of the early 2000's (which he was). Other PNG contributors have had nowhere near the impact Lam has had, Gene had longevity and won a few trophies. Other future contributors could potentially be up there with the likes of Gene if they perform well which Jean was suggesting could happen to Mead and the Albert brothers.
For what it's worth I don't think players from PNG have had anywhere near as much impact in SL as those from the likes of Samoa and Tonga. But I for one gladly want the PNG players over here to do well. If they do, it can only improve the PNG national team which means a bit more competitiveness at international level. They are after all the only nation who's main sport is RL. And if you include the PNG players that have done well in the Championship too then you have a list of some very good players.
David Mead, Marcus Bai, Menzie Yere, Jason Tali, Garry Lo, Stanley Gene, Adrian Lam, Makali Aizue, James Segeyaro, Mark Mexico, Jason Chan, Neville Costigan, Paul Aiton. SUBS: Wellington Albert, Kurt Baptiste, Stanton Albert, John Wilshire. And I'm probably missing some more.
Anyway my apologies to everyone else. It feels like it's gone off topic too much now. So are there any more possible rumours or signings to be announced by clubs?
