not seen a thing, which isn't good enough.

| They have been giving us some more coverage on news reports. Heard an interview with Tomkins all 30 seconds of it. But it's more than I heard in the lead up to the GF. So it's all relative.
In this day and age of recordable on demand TV, who watches ads????
I certainly don't, not that I paid that much attention previously.
Advertising and entertainment are becoming more and more ffractured. It must be tricky to put all that effort in from ad companies in general only to know people are just jumping through the ads.

Enough for the big companies to deem that they are still worth spending money on.

| Just seen the Ad! 10mins before kick-off before the biggest England football match this year isn't bad going at all...lets see what it does for sales and interest in the tournament.

I read somewhere that they are supposed to be starting their promotion tomorrow?

| I know not massive advertising on the BBC but on Look North it showed the PNG squad arriving in Hull and interviewed the coach and promoted what games will be in Hull. Hopefully most Look "insert area" will have done the same for there locally based teams

Worth pointing out to non-Hull message boarders that the Hull Look North broadcasts all the way down to Boston/Kings Lynn, so Lincolnshire will have seen this promotion too.

I suggest you research above the line marketing & below the line marketing. Gillette, to use a company that supports RL in England, spend a lot of money pushing their BRAND forward via above the line TV advertising....Tiger Woods, Henry and Federer were chosen for the wide range of appeal and recognisability...there was rarely a call to action in the TV work from Gillette (although I understand ASDA/Gillette are running a joint product/RLWC campaign at present). Other Major brands, whilst keen to get a ROI directly from an above the line campaign, understand that it is their below the line work, coupled with point of sale activity and more and more, CRM activity that generates the good revenues for them.
RLWC 2013 paying for TV ads is, to me anyway, a complete waste of money. An internet campaign across all sports sites in the UK would have been a better channel to use IMHO....a call to action with a direct link to a booking site.....as opposed to half time in a soccer match where most viewers are nearer their kettles than their PC's/Telephones.

| Gillette probably only pay the RFL about 10% in sponsorship funds to that of the other names you mention. Seems the RLWC Facebook page keep patting themselves on the back, so everything must be lush in the garden.

| Just seen the BBC promo. I quite like it. Again there's no actual footage of the sport, but I seem to recall them doing something similar for the last football WC and also the Olympics recently.
It should air again tonight just before the 10 o' clock news, so plenty should see that.

Quite a similar concept used by Coca Cola down here in 2011....
I like the BBC advert.....although the jury is still out on the games fascination with cartoons in recent years

| Jesus f****g wept. The curse of the whinging RL fan strikes again.
"We want more exposure to the game".
You get an advert played on primetime between quite possibly the most important international football match in England for a good couple of years, plus a spot inbetween the ITV News.
Cue........"the adverts rubbish. No-one will be interested".
People are saying the BBC have done nothing. IIRC, they had a discussion with Dave Woods, Brian Noble and Ian Millward on 5 Live the other week, they had another one either Monday or Tuesday just gone, and the have a programme tonight all about Sam Tomkins.
