| If this Rugby World Cup does better than the one in 2000 and I think sales already are better than that. If this Rugby World Cup does better than the one in 2008 and I think the semi finals and and final are already better.
If the coverage on the BBC is up to their recently improved standards for the game and a huge terrestrial audience forms good impression of what we have to offer, especially when compared to the dross that will be emanating from Twickenham, Murrayfield and Cardiff in the same month, this will be a positive thing for RL.
If the players from the USA, Wales, Ireland,Scotland the Pacific Islands and the Italian domestic game are able to return to their countries and if funds from any profits from the tournament become available to them and their respective games grow a little as a result, this would be a good thing.
Forget the RU World Cup. They have had numerous countries playing their game for a very long time. Up until 1995 RL had four, Aus, NZ, GB/England, France and occasionally Wales due mostly to the iniquitous ban on our game under pain of sporting apartheid visited on us by the RFU.
RL has always been a child of the underprivileged until recent years and has always struggled to find money. RU is the sporting wunderkind of the establishment and the mega rich and they didn't have any wage bills ( officially) for over 100 years whilst still raking in humongeous gate receipts and TV contracts.
RL has been behind the 8 ball from it's birth. It's a miracle we still have our balls on the table and are still in the game.
Far from running down this years Cup, I am very pleased with what I have seen so far. It seems to be the best organised ever and, by RL terms will be a cracking success.
What RU does is their business. I am very optimistic about the business of the Rugby World Cup, the first and original one since 1954.

| Still not had any tickets and now when I go online to look at my account I have a message coming up at the side of my Fiji vs Ireland tickets saying they now have 'crc or prc restrictions'. Looking on google that seems to mean they're rescrited view seats yet I had no warning when I bought them(3 months back) and the message has only just appeared. I'd have thought they'd be in touch to offer alternatives.
Will have to give them a call.

| Just booked my train down to Wembley, had a £10 voucher so only cost £28 return including a London travel card. I am going to ring up and buy five tickets for the final on my lunch tomorrow, then once we have all been paid I am going to splash out on a load of tickets.
Really starting to get excited now, despite Gutterfax's inane ramblings! He is sounding more and more like William Eve by the day. Up your game chaps, at least our friend from across the channel Mr Capdouze is amusing!

| I noticed [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5iwp8wlTEgthis little snippet[/url elsewhere. Dance may not be your cup of tea but given the background of the staff and the numbers involved, I don't think there has been much skimping done on the opening ceremony routines. And I rather like the idea of the viral dance. Could be good for a laugh!

Good for you.
Seems lots of posters are rushing to buy multiple tickets and I have no doubt that Ms Bolton will be announcing that Ticket Sales have surpassed the total from 2008 making this the most attended RLWC in the history of the game, followed by a snippet on 50 tickets being sold in bulk to some Cornish fishermen and that there are only 18% of category "y" tickets available for the Limerick game, so RL fans had better get a move on.....all without actually mentioning any real figures.
[urlhttp://www.rlwc2013.com/rugby-league-world-news/article/1039/rlwc-celebrate--days-to[/url
For the record, this release was made 10 weeks ago...not a word about any other milestones being hit yet.....not even the 293,965 total from 2008...or the 263,921 from the last event in England?
Other sports, across the board, fight for the media's attention......with 31 days to go, the silence is pretty deafening when it comes to good news on the RLWC 2013 site and/or in the mainstream media.
...but there are loads of forum fans who are buying multiple tickets to multiple games and they've opened the top tier in Huddersfield....so it'll all be OK in the end

We've had Martin Offiah on a very popular Sunday morning show with a large share of the 25-45 market is a good start (and on C4 not BBC). We now need to see a series of similar items in the mainstream.

wakes are my speciality
Hey, I want 500k filling the stadiums as much as anyone else does......I just don't buy the spin from the organisers regarding ticket sales....same way I don't buy into the multiple partners better than major sponsor or Rileys will show all the games live on Premier TV in their snooker halls horse that some on here seem delighted to swallow.
BTW, according to Ms Bolton, 60% of the 40% had been sold to non traditional areas.....so only 80,000 heartland fans had bought tickets as of July 18th. Given 10 SL clubs seasons are over......surely we'd have cracked off another 20% in sales now the "heartlands" fans aren't distracted.
Collectively....do you believe that the companies above have paid a million quid between them? Do you believe any of them have paid up front to be involved?

| I see nothing wrong with the partners approach. It's a bit more professional and grown up than trying to land just one major sponsor. But more than that long term it is better for the game.
With Partners you get to have a divergence of links. You also spread your risk, with one big sponsor, you are heavily reliant on that sponsor or landing a replacement.
With partners you can build up a portfolio and as long as you have a couple of brain cells, the lengths of contract will differ. Some for a year, some for 2, some for longer. That way the sport is not held over a barrel. If the official betting partner does not want to renew for the same price, you don't have to weigh up whether you can land another one, or land it quickly enough.
I think the need for it has come about from the shambles of giving away the title sponsorship for free. But hey don't look a gift horse in the mouth. It maybe an accidental route, but at least it's now on the right track.
There is nothing wrong with having a competition title sponsor, but if that has to be an investment big enough to remove all other sponsors I think it would be a mistake.
I'd rather if we go for a title sponsor to get a little less from the title sponsor in favour of having multiple partners sponsor different elements.
The proof of whether it works will be in the accounts!

| I agree, and each sponsor does its own press, has its own audience on twitter etc so you get your message out to multiple audiences
