| Quote: meast "which is exactly what Jerry did today, at one point he looked to have just crashed through 3 or 4 warrington defenders!
as Daz says, on current form, there isn't a winger to touch him in SL.
and also cudjoe is back to his best now, he was devastating today.'"
How can you tell if Wire were so bad?
I'd probably look like England standard playing against this Wire team.

| It's fantastic for England with the choices McNamara has.
Hall has been a regular and always plays well for England.
Briscoes been playing well since his return from injury and played really well in the CCF.
Jerrys the form winger and top try scorer.
Burgess is the future, with tons of pace and try scoring ability.
Then you have Lineham, Charnley and Makinson etc
at this moment in time I would choose Hall & Jerry but with the big games (Semis and Final) coming up, everything could easily change.

| As an all round package, briscoe is by far the best winger in the comp. I'd play him and mcgilvray

| Hall and McGillvary all the way with Makinson as back-up.
Although Briscoe has speed, I don't rate him as much as the other three.

hall is strong near the line but a bit one dimensional. burgess is quick but still has a way to go to prove he's top quality and mcgilvray has had a great season but needs to do it consistently for a few seasons. briscoe is pretty quick, exceptionally strong, has a great offload, backs up better than most wingers and defensively is very good. He's so good he even looked special on the wing for Hull which takes some doing. I honestly don't think any of the others would have scored all of those 5 tries he did at wembley

| Hall one dimensional really?
Mcgillvary needs to perform over a few seasons. Is 20 tries plus for the last three seasons not consistency?

| agree, Jerry has been consistent for a few years now, he just hasn't had the media and the wider public banging his drum like the others have.
all the wingers mentioned on here are very good wingers in their own right and it shows the difference, when someone mentioned Karl Pratt and Richard Horne playing on the wing for GB
but, if the team is truly picked on form then it's who is McGillvary's wing partner

| I agree McGillivery should be very much in the hunt, but it's not about form/tries....wingers can score 15 tries a year just from strolling in unopposed in the corner.
It's more about his style. The Southern Hemisphere teams are physical so having two wingers like Hall and McGillivery doing roles like forwards is the biggest reason why you could include him, not that he has X amount of tries. I still maintain that had he played on Leeds left wing this year then McGillivery would at best only levelled Hall's try total.

Because it's not like Hall has been bombing chances or being knocked into touch when near the line.
A winger largely relies on his tries coming from being created for him, we haven't done that for him so we won't have done it for McGillivery. How many of McGillivery's tries are due to the work of his teammates inside him?
Hall only scored 7 tries in his last 15 games in 2013, he then went on to score 8 in 5 WC games. Since the arrival of Moon (not a real wingers centre) and the departure of Webb who use to create a lot of the tries down our left side then Hall's try totals have dipped quite a bit.

| At least this is a positive debate rather than which of our wingers is the least bad. If we could have the same debate about the rest of the team we'd be in with a real shout at international level.
For me the only no-no is Charnley, simply because he lacks physicality running the ball out in defence which is absolutely vital.

I agree on Charnley, he style is ok at SL when he can run in a bucket load of straight forward tries. Against international opposition you need to have these big wingers, so McGillivery is a real option (his supporters need to calm down though in having to downplay others to help big him up). Along with Charnley I'm not sure Makinson is 'physical' enough for International rugby.

for some weird reason, huddersfield fans seem to be using our decline and their current ascension as some sort of barometer of their success.
