I won't mention Tomkins here, because despite him being a niggly, lashing out gobs***e, he's far from overrated.

There are a few obvious ones like Brough , Chase and Sinfield but we live in an era were there are no stand out British playmakers so these players are "overrated", as such, but they are still the best we have got. So I am not sure if they are overrated. The same can be applied to Sam Tomkins, he would be an average NRL fullback but is the best British back by a distance at the moment. So it is all down to who you compare these players to

I will go for a less obvious one; Chris Riley as he has a very unwarranted underrated tag. If you watch the big games Wire have played in the last couple of years he consistently lets them down especially in defence.

I think England have some world class forwards and some very average backs. So as a rule in this country we overrate the backs and underrate the forwards.

Riley, alongside Rhys Williams, is currently the designated "scapegoat" for our fans. In the past, it's been players like Mike Wainwright and Jon Clarke, now it's Riley.

Everytime something wrong happens at Warrington, it's Chris Riley's fault.

He is. However, we have quite a few fickle fans, and they have to blame someone.

I don't see how he can be overrated though, as to be honest no-one really rates him anyway. He's hardly in for awards, Man of Steel, Dream Team etc, but he's always in the running for top tryscorer and despite "some" of his defence being a little suspect, he's a superb attacking player and has come on leaps and bounds from a few years ago. He has a job to do, and he just gets on and does it to the best of his abilities.

If anything, he's slightly underrated for me.

No insults from this west huller don't think yeaman is overrated as a player as I think every one knows he is not the player he once was lost the speed he used to have. The reason he keeps his place in the hull team is his defensive ability never misses a tackle, reads the game very well knows when to shoot out the line and when he does he doesn't miss.

Rob Burrow one trick pony. Has a little run a duck and dive. Penalty given.

McIlorum, Myler, Burns, McGuire

Wouldn't go far as saying Yeaman never misses a tackle. He shot out the line on Friday when he had no need to and completely missed his man causing a huge overlap. He's really good in defence but his judgement when he shoots out of the line to make a big hit, is getting worse and worse.
Majority of Hull fans now don't rate Yeaman either. He's had his time and was a very good player for us especially in 2006.

As for people calling Whiting overrated, has got to be a wind up. Best utility player in the league and can't remember the last time he had a poor game for Hull. Only down fall to his game is a lack of speed.

Been over-rated for a while now,not the player he was and will be struggling to get in team for 2014.

I'd disagree with McIlorum and Myler there. Myler has really improved this season, McIlorum performs his role very well.
