| Quote craigizzard="craigizzard"The only legitimate reason for doing it is if the thinking is that the business, even with its most necessary assets intact, will *never* be profitable, so in effect it's not an administration it's a winding up.'"
That's just not true.
Look, the Administrators don;'t walk into a job like this with buckets full of cash, ready to pay wages, rent, rates, trade creditors etc. They are having to trade a loss-making business and have the costs associated with that, until such time as somebody decides to buy the club.
They can't sit around racking up costs and not having a plan to pay for them. What if all the proposed purchasers pull out? How do they pay salaries then?
They are taking these steps to pay for the process that could eventually save the club. No Administration, no Wakefield.

| The administrator HAS to get the maximum amount of cash into any business to pay off creditors. If they get a "reasonable" offer for an asset of the business they will sell.
Whether it is good RL business is a different question.
It's happened before (Leeds screwed the Cougars), it's happening now and WILL happen again in the future.

| I was wrong.
I assumed this was going to be a prepack.
Maybe it was with Parkin before he pulled out (what nasties maybe did the due dilligence uncover?) - dunno - but it clearly is not now, if indeed it ever was.
On that basis, God help the Wakey fans.

But wakefield don't just have one asset, they have several (i.e. 20-odd players), which individually aren't integral to the running of the business

| Having been through some pretty grim times with London in all its guises, I've nothing but sympathy for the Wakey supporters - I don't have to imagine what they're going through, I know. To my ignorant mind the actions of the administrators seems a little odd - what's to stop the new potential owners deciding that too many assets have been stripped from the club so they're not interested any longer?

If they do think that then they aren't the right people to take over at Wakefield. 2 players have left the club, presumably for transfer fees. 2 players who, if the rumours are correct about contracts being valid for SL only, could (probably) leave for free at the end of the season anyway.
The new owners need to be in it for the long haul at Wakefield, which will probably involve 6 or 9 years in the Championship.

Did it? I dont think we went in to administration when we went down. Also im worried for Wakey as with Fax it was a good 10 or so games in to the season before players started leaving, obviously most had gone before the start of the season but the team that was on the field to start with was at least competitive for a few weeks.

Given the RFL have promised help - will they offer Big Nige at prop?
Alternatively, it might be more help financially if he came and bought every pie in the stadium on every match day.

"In the UK, an administration order is a process designed to protect limited companies from their creditors while a debt restructuring plan is carried out and presented to creditors and courts".
The "new owners" will become the new owners when the club comes out of "administration" As per above.
Until such time, the administrators will do what they regard as best for the running of the club/company acting in the best interest of the creditors.
As an example Scottish League Club [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee/9390813.stmDundee FC[/url seemed to have staved off liquidation by offering and having a majority of creditors agree to 6p in the £ in what is due to them to make that happen. The administartor also sold a player for £150k in January transfer window.
Wakefield find themselves in the place they are today because of poor off field managment and decison making that took place.

correct. the administrators have no loyalty to the club or any real desire the help them win games in the short term. their aim is to run the club as they see best, if this means selling players to raise cash to pay off creditors then they will do so.
the worrying thing for wakey is that the longer it takes for a takeover to go through the more likely it is their best players will be sold - even if the likes of murphy don't want to go, if he makes the club money he will be sold

true but a lot depends on the atttitude of the administrator, his objective is to get the best deal for the creditors. if he thinks keeping the assets of the company together will attract a better offer for the business then he has the option of doing this in the short term.
Something smells bad about this to me, perhaps if there had still been a couple of interested parties looking to buy things may have been different, but these people are not liquidators they are supposed to be salvaging the business, running it into the ground by selling the best players seems a strange way of going about it.

| Really feel for you guys, we've been there and it aint nice!
Fortuntely we had some top guys as administrators and they refused to destroy the club by selling it to shonky Wilby/Lloyd and helped us come out the other side relatively intact.
Best of luck, hopefully this is just a difficult step on the long and illustrious journey of one of RL's famous clubs.
