JESUS WEPT :WALL: HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover. There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT::d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_76030.jpg

Quote: Phuzzy "And One Direction had a higher earning potential than some of the greatest musicians who ever lived. If the value you place on something is based purely on it's earning potential I hope you enjoyed creaming yourself as you listened to Harry and the boys.'"

47,000 people watched the All Blacks defeat Australia in Japan in October......7,000 more than witnessed Australia defeat England in the RLWC final in 2017 in Brisbane.........read that back again and let it sink in. Brisbane is supposedly a RL hotbed, but there were 12,000 empty seats at the RLWC Final, featuring the home side.....whilst 47,000 curious Japanese were prepared to watch a neutral test.
You may not like Union, or One Direction, but your attempt to belittle the bigger and more popular code just underlines your insecurity and uneasiness when it's compared to League.

For a game that we often describe as The Greatest, it is strange that we struggle to attract fans, sponsors and TV viewers whilst "one direction/Union" don't have that problem icon_biggrin.gif

Rugby league fans and that massive chip on their shoulder have been using derogatory terms for rugby union since the times of Adam and Eve but that’s ok! It’s allowed, but if rugby players say it about rugby league, well, we can’t have that can we!!'"

Yes I’m fully aware of laws I was a young lad when I joined here and considered changing my screen name but I’ve posted with it a long while.

I couldn’t care less what we say about union because a lot of the general intelligent discussion about the game comes to a general conclusion the slowness and silly kicking every set does not appeal to a league fan.

You call them rugby players you are clearly here on the wind up with your god knows how many’th account.

Merry Christmas troll hope you’ve had a pleasant one my new year will be more pleasant foeing you and not seeing your tripe

Sorry snowie people say far less about Wakefield and you spit your dummy

I agree with your football stance though. It’s become a different game than I used to love. Money hasnt helped but that’s not the players fault but I agree we will lose out because of sky’s obsession

I could imagine one of our rugby union trolls on this site would create something like that on that UD page.

For a game that we often describe as The Greatest, it is strange that we struggle to attract fans, sponsors and TV viewers whilst "one direction/Union" don't have that problem Comparing the two codes of rugby and the music industry is a perfect analogy. You can fool the masses easily by putting time, money and effort into promoting something inferior to appear superior.

Not just One Direction but all modern pop and RnB chart music is awful but they are all household names and sell out gigantic stadium tours. There are no redeeming features to most of the songs in the charts, it is all instantly forgettable and they will no way on Earth still be played on the radio in fifty years’ time.

Then on the other hand there are fantastic bands around that play to small audiences in small venues who 97.5% (maybe more) of the population have never heard of. Take the band who have produced my favourite album of the year this year; The Fernweh (and their self-titled debut album). It wipes the floor with any album by any artist in the year’s top40 pop/RnB chart, I mean, FFS, I believe LadBaby was the UK Christmas #1. But the Fernweh only played upstairs in the pub Gulliver’s on Oldham Street when they came to Manchester.

Rugby union could be a good game, has got better as it has sped up in the last five years or so, but a good game of rugby league is miles better than rugby union. Just because the TV companies’ bias as well as investment and promotion of the game is bigger, thus, they get more exposure and greater crowds, it doesn’t mean it’s a better game than rugby league. Just means the old boys network who are at the head of these investment companies and tv companies push the two sports in the direction they want them to go in.

The Leigh and Wakefield fans mentality...... Say something negative about any other team than theirs - Its an opinion Say something negative about Leigh and Wakefield - TROLL:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_77270.jpg

Rugby union is loved all around the world. Rugby league is loved in the north of England and south east of Australia. The sooner people stop falling for the “greatest game” rubbish the sooner we can start rebuilding the game because it isn’t. It’s a pale imitation of what it used to be. Wheras rugby union has become easily the more skilful code

You may not like Union, or One Direction, but your attempt to belittle the bigger and more popular code just underlines your insecurity and uneasiness when it's compared to League.

For a game that we often describe as The Greatest, it is strange that we struggle to attract fans, sponsors and TV viewers whilst "one direction/Union" don't have that problem

If my pointing out that there are other markers of worth than commercial success bothers you so much, might I suggest it's you who is insecure.

I'm perfectly happy enjoying a minority sport, music, art or anything else for that matter and make my judgement(s) of worth based on criteria other than how many 'units' it can sell.

As for your last point; the same could be said for Mozart and Van Gough, both of whom died as paupers and often struggled for patronage against their, shall we say, lesser (as ultimately determined by history) contemporaries. Using that as a marker of worth is sad in the extreme. I guess you think The Kardashians is the epitome of quality TV too. After all, it's very popular, you know!

P. S. Sorry if I upset you dissing Harry and the boys. I'll go and listen to their outstanding cover of 'One Way Or Another' and chastise myself for not realising it must be a work of art as it sold well. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm from Bramley so I've a Yorkshire accent too. That poet is made in a laboratory from heavily distilled Barnsley I'd say. Do you genuinely talk like that?
