They should be damned full stop. Take the blinkers off. RL is run worse than some dodgy kebab shop.'"
What part of 'I know the RFL could improve in a lot of areas' didn't you understand?
What is 'blinkered' is people moaning about the best bit of advertising we've seen for RL in many a year, just because there are other areas that they are disgruntled with the RFL for. Some people just cannot give a balanced opinion, either everything is great, or everything is rubbish... Usually the latter!

They have just played the advert during ITN News. What does that say to our marketing guru about the target audience?

| I think this is disgusting. I'm with Ian Lenegan on this one, the RFL have been to focused on the World Cup this year.
The seats will sell themselves. No need for any advertising to a national audience.

| Many people myself including probably watch Jeremy Kyle for the laughs it gives you looking at some of the idiots we actually have in this country that for some reason are still around breathing the same air as the rest of us.
As for a cheap slot maybe people need to look at what is the most popular daytime TV programmebefore they spout of, Add that the RFL have a 30 second slot at hal time in the England match and I seriously don't know how the RFL can be blasted!

As has been pointed out earlier, the RLWC will have purchased a "basket" of TV advertising and they will have selected some "choice" slots as well as being placed wherever the broadcaster has space.
The trick with advertising this close to the event is it has to be a call to action......TV is rarely a call to action, but an awareness media. I would have hoped to have seen more "clever/social/online" activity from the RFL targeting people at their computers with direct access to the booking site....
...that said, television adverts will at least let people know the event is on!
As for damned if they do, Damned if they don't.....their track record in this department would cause many people to be sceptical.

Obviously getting people to the buy tickets and get to the games is the main objective...but if we can't do that, at least making the general public aware that Rugby League is still alive and kicking and big enough to host international games at grounds like the Millennium, Wembley & Old Trafford is better than nothing. Sadly many of the general public think RL died a death a couple of decades ago, and if we can turn that view around the tournament has been a success.

| The extra ticket sales won't be huge but these ads will do a huge amount to raise the profile of the tournament. A higher profile tournament with slick presentation has to enhance the profile of RL from where it is, and that can only help strengthen the game's commercial value.
If by some miracle it all pays off and our World Cup does register somewhere on the national conscience, lets not all be talking the game down and infighting at the very moment we get our 15 seconds in the shop window. Nothing would be more worthy of a proper good moan.

| I think it should have been in everyone's faces.
I'm an Everton fan, and i go on a sport related site with Adverts, and low and behold, infront of me Everton adverts pop up (amongst others), it's not like you can scroll past them as they follow where you are...
The RFL needed to do this big time, the internet is most peoples access to the news in the world atm, and what better place to stick an ad than on it!
Fair play for sticking the TV Ad out though, but too little too late with little over 3 weeks to get tickets for 'newbies'

| The extraordinary rugby league advert is much better than this World Cup ad. Guys sweating in a dressing room starring at a camera won't get neutrals excited.

Exactly.
Some people must be so "fun" to be around if they're this negative in real life.
"Just got a hole-in-one mate!"
"Yeah, but you hit it in the rough on your last few drives. You're cr*p."
