I've never mentioned this on these boards as it's not worth going on about but i'm gay and yes it is horrible to recieve abuse like as I have in the past and i'm glad something got done about it but i agree £40,000 is a bit to much for a small club like cas.

The RFL are no doubt making a point so that other clubs will take notice and stamp it out before they recieve a hefty fine like this which i think is unfair on castleford and this small & idiotic group of fans have tarnished their club and put the rest of the fans in a bad light as this has recieved national media attention.

Just out of interest how many people do you think were involved in the chanting.

Id say thats about half of em banned. No idea where you got your opinions on the number involved but you are.... wrong.

i would presume more than 3! again, if it was a low number and the stewards failed to act, then they and the club are in the wrong, and have been rightly fined!

So maybe a dozen [ mostly teenagers ] in a covered standing terrace chanting 3 times for 30 seconds over a period of maybe 30 minutes , I'd like to see you go into that area and identify them

Ask any teacher. You start man handling 15 year old kids and you open a huge can of worms. Would you have thrown them out if you were a steward and risk being prosecuted for the grand sum of £20 you got paid??? I doubt it.

So are you saying they are immune from being ejected from the jungle?

You think that cas would have been less guilty if large numbers of fans were chanting?

No just that you need evidence if your going to avoid legal difficulties, a steward trying to fight his way through a packed standing area,with lots of other noise around him and an obscured view might not have seen enough to give evidence in court, leaving to club open to legal action.

The stewards were damned if they did and damned if they didnt.

Its not always easy to identify the culprits, i remember last year celtic fans complaining thats fans from a northern club were making some pretty disgusting remarks about the bridgend suicides. Were all those chanting identified, ejected and banned?

How would a Rugby League club go about identifying every supporter who chanted that day?

Do you think these fans would have their names and addresses tattooed on their foreheads?

Do you think that RL clubs have Police powers and vast databases on known homophobic chanters?
