Expansion may have to wait until the very real threat of afl is fought off in the West, there's to many fans who may switch with Penrith and Parramatta having bad seasons.

appetitie for expansion will improve markedly for the nrl as the next 2 TV deals will see massive increases

right now the NRL is strapped for funds

when we have loads of money then the idea of a PNG team improves markedly

espeically if the PNG government support the bid as promised

today is has no chance but in the future has as much chance as a 2nd NZ team

ultimately the NRL will be a competition of 22 - 24 teams , maybe of 2 groups

the salary cap will be $10 - $15 million

and PNG have an excellent chance of being in that given their love of the sport

I agree with 95% of that, but am becoming more wary as people in the game seem to be gearing up for a spreading of funds for the existing clubs from the first TV deal. They may not expand as quickly or as we first thought. Maybe 14 Perth, 15, Brisbane the Sequel.
