| Warrington v Wigan is now a far bigger game than Saints v Wigan. Even for Wigan fans.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

If you are so sure I challenge you to start a thread on the Wigan board to ask which is the bigger game..... prove yourself right.... I dare you!

What about the 2,000 crowds they were getting after they were relegated in the early 80s? That's not 'loyalty'.
If you want real loyalty then look no further than Wire fans.

| What about the fact that the number of fans increased during their worst season for over 20 years?

Nice try but you completly ignore the fact that ALL clubs were getting dire attendances back then. The sport was in a proper slump everywhere really except on Humberside.
And 2,000? Miles away from the truth! Facts: Wigan's home average in Division 2 (1980-81) was actually 4,693. Warrington's that same year in Division 1 was 4,917 & St Helens 4,934. Bare in mind that the local derbies we faced in Division 2 were just Swinton (home average 1,953), Rochdale (home average 1,149), Blackpool (home average 684) and Huyton (home average 270), where as in Division 1 your local ish derbies included St Helens, Widnes, Leigh, Salford and Oldham - I don't think we did too bad attendance wise, did we?
And any Warrington fan who suggests that facing you is bigger than facing St Helens for us really is talking garbage. You must be on a different planet!

Some of ypou should know better than to carry on responding to this idiot who is not a Wire fan. He/she simply trolls the Boards of Wigan, Saints and Leeds and makes stupid and ridiculous comments.

You should really check your facts before making statements like this. When Wigan got relegated, the attendances for 1st division rugby league fell by a huge percentage, whilst the second division attendances increased dramatically. Can't ever remember Wigan getting only 2,000 fans for any game. You should also take note of the fact that a good proportion of any crowd in those days were deliberatly lost, alledgedly something to do with directors beer money.
