Can you straighten that out a bit I didn't grasp pretty much any of the first sentence, oh hang on you only wrote one sentence.
£125/night, we aren't talking about that price bracket so I'm not seeing what relevance that has to the discussion? Do some hotel rooms not meet expectation, absolutely, that happens, on the flip side some of the best rooms I've had and most friendly were also some of the least expensive.
20+ years ago I stayed in one of the most expensive hotels in Jersey (4th most expensive from what I could see of the rack rate), the restaurant and food were fantastic, the front of house opulent, staff lovely, but the budget rooms were very basic, clean but basic. Geographically it was perfectly located.
ATEOTD the poster saying you can't get anywhere for under a £100*night in London is ridiculously off the mark. If you're not fussy you can get a bed and a breakfast for £32 about 4 miles away/35mins by DLR from the Olympic stadium

rather see it in somewhere close to the majority fan base, London is a long way and, even if they got promoted, London wouldn't add much to it.

Anfield would be a good shout. But the Etihad and Elland Road are too close IMO. Part of the experience for me is visiting a city I rarely do aka Newcastle. Goodison, however is just a bigger Belle Vue or Wheldon Road.

| Anfield would be a good shout as it has a large park for a fan zone next to it and Liverpool has a lot of hotels as its already a big tourist draw.
the big problem as always is a lack of local marketing though. The first Magic Weekend in Newcastle they seemed to put some effort in and we were told that 10k tickets had been sold to local residents...what has happened since then? you can't expect the local population to remember seeing an article 5 years ago about a sport they don't follow and just hope they turn up.
disappointingly they haven't even put the top tier on sale for the Saturday, i'm sure it was for other years with just a few weeks to go. The RFL seem happy to lazily just accept flat crowd numbers rather than try and fill the ground.

| Why is it past it’s sell by date? It’s a great event where you can mingle with thousands of fans from other teams and have a great day or weekend? Personally I love it

tellins to Newcastle is about 30 minutes less than direct to wembley by car, it's a damn sight longer by train than to the capital by around a couple of hours.
You can apply that to most of the West of the Pennines teams. Hull to KX by train is 2:40 give or take including a change at Donny if you don't get the Hull train straight through which is a bit quicker, to Newcastle it's at the very most 20 minutes quicker and still with a change.
Leeds is quicker to Newcastle by car by a bigger margin but by train it's less than 30 minutes difference.
You also forget it isn't London Broncos fans but Southern based fans, you know those fans that make up 40-45% of the tickets sold at the big events in London.

I remember being in Newcastle months before the rugby union World Cup and they had a big sign over the Tyne bridge advertising the world cup.
Would be great if rugby league could do something like that.

I understand hotels doing that, but to cancel an already booked room so they can resell it at a higher price is IMO, dishonest.

Please please please never at Elland Rd. It might be in a great location but as a stadium it's bloody awful. I'm 5 foot 1 and a peanut and even I couldn't sit straight when I went there for the WCF a few years ago. The people I was with were considerably taller and ended up standing on the concourse watching the game on the TV simply because they couldn't sit down. You are there for hours so comfortable seating is a must, something ER doesn't provide unfortunately.

| Can't see it being at Newcastle next year as they're hosting union European final in May 2019, I'm sure I read it's agreed there'll be no other event near the time. All points towards the Etihad again, especially with it being the home of RFL now.
