| Must say I'm amused by this article on Crusaders website - [urlhttp://www.crusadersrfl.com/article.php?id=645[/url
They seem to be asking fans to travel up from South Wales just to clear snow of the pitch for the football team?

Is it?
My understanding is that companies keep their registered numbers even when majority shareholdings change. As in the following examples...
CASTLEFORD RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED
Registered No.00214373
Incorporation Date: 15-06-1926
WIGAN RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB LIMITED
Registered No.00174692
Incorporation Date: 12-05-1921
WARRINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED
Registered No.00370871
Incorporation Date: 25-11-1941
ST HELENS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED
Registered No.00331905
Incorporation Date: 24-09-1937

| Quote Grendel="Grendel"Not sure how relevant this is, but it seems that the Wrexham ANZACS are not even the same team legally.
A bloke on the SW Scorps website has found that Celtic Crusaders Limited is being / has been wound up and a new company formed with the name Wrexham Crusaders Limited and a new company number.
So it seems that the only thing the Wrexham Crusaders (THEIR name, not my dig) have in common with the late lamented (by me) CELTIC Crusaders is half a dozen players, half a dozen supporters and Mike fakking Turner.
As such it seems odd to me that the WC were given the franchise previously awarded to the CC, without even having to apply.'"

I take it that the folk of South Wales, even those supporting Scorpions, are now officially "flatcappers holding back the game" whereas they had previous been "a breath of fresh air, just what the game needs".
Nice to know.

| Just to clarify Wrexham Crusaders and Wrexham ANZACS is not the name of the team. It is Crusaders Rugby League.
Wrexham Crusaders Ltd, a company has been formed to replace the original Celtic Crusaders Ltd. No club I know in existance has Limited at the end of their name as much as some would like to think so.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps was formed in 1915 and operated during the First World War at The Battle of Gallipoli. I watched the ANZAC Day NRL matches and the rememberance services surrounding this and it was quite moving. I find it a little sad that this is used in some kind of way to mock a 2010 Super League team 95 years after the original formation.'"
ANZACS is used in many other contexts though, for instance in 2004 (IIRC) Cumbria played the ANZACS at Derwent Park.
Also there has been a Kangaroo vs Kiwi fixture on ANZAC day in the past. Nobody takes offence at it being described as the ANZAC test or ANZAC match.

| Fair enough. I stand corrected.
For what it is is worth though the names are used to commemorate something or name something after the ANZAC as a mark of respect. I think using it as a way of mocking something or someone is something totally different. The club aren't getting named ANZACS for any good reason here.
I still think it is a bit stupid to call Crusaders the Wrexham Crusaders and ANZACS when it isn't technically their name also.
If it pleases some though let them carry on.

| Thanks I will.
Wrexham Crusaders IS the company name.
Wrexham ANZACs is my derogatory nickname for this mostly SH team playing out of North Wales. If you choose to point out its other connotations in an effort to paint me as somehow disrespectful to the commonwealth soldiers who died in the war, well I think that's a matter for you not me.
I have no issue with you Lew. Never have, never will. But what can I say? I detest your club. I don't take kindly to being screwed over and the lies about no investment in S Wales merely rubs salt into the wound. so I have a go. And will continue to point out every lie, every hypocrisy that reveals itself.
There's plenty of barracking of clubs goes on on these boards and people don't take it personally.
