From a Wakey perspective, it's all about the games in the next round, as if Catalans beat Hull KR and Leeds beat London, Wakey can't be caught by the loser of the Rovers and London game.

The biggest worry for Rovers and Hudds might be that Wakey should have nothing to play for on the last day, when we play London.

I said a few weeks ago that the last game between Wakefield and London may have an impact on another club, depending on who needs the points, and who's already safe.

Three club still on 18 points. I maintain my thought that 20 points isn't enough this season. You need 22 to be safe.

I'm not sure that's right because of your fixture with London. Mathematically, you're right, but form and points difference would suggest otherwise. For Wakey to go down, you and London would both have to win two out of the last three and Huddersfield one but improve the points difference.

Mathematically, if you and London win the next game, a team might need 24 to be safe (I think), but Huddersfield have a very tough run in. It's easy to wonder whether Tony Smith had the right idea in treating your game with them as just another game. Huddersfield treated it like a cup final, but their form since is what a cup-winning side normally goes through after Wembley.

Points difference will be huge. At the moment it’s:
Leeds -34
Wakefield -109
Huddersfield -175
Hull KR -233
London -251

It may still come down to points difference but, either London or KR will pick up points when the 2 clubs meet on the 8th September, potentially making that club safe.
However, it's equally possible that this will go to the last weekend of the season, with all 4 clubs needing to win to avoid the drop and still just about possible that Leeds could be dragged back into the dogfight.

Certainly KR v London is massive.

Something else which may well come into play is, the performance of those clubs that are safe and any squad rotation going on in the clubs who are in the play offs, who will be concentrating on having their best 17 ready for the play off games, rather than necessarily going all out to win on the last day of the regular season.

Twists and turns aplenty still to come and this is all without the contrived nonsense of the 3 x 8 structure

Not sure about the play-off teams. I've rarely seen the "resting players" bit work when it comes to the crucial game afterwards. Look at KR this weekend after resting key players. I think you've got to keep momentum.

The biggest risk for KR (if they lose the London game) or Huddersfield is if Wakey are safe by then, as they will literally have nothing to play for other than pride, and there is no doubt that London can get themselves up for a game.

What helps Wakey is that both Catalan and Leeds need to win their next game, which might narrow the relegation scrap even further to just three teams.

Very interesting scenario...especially seeing Hull KR drop back into the mire. However, rumours are rife that Toronto will not be in a position to come up if they finish first.

I hope you're wrong, Super league needs Toronto. After all,expansion needs to be proved a good or a bad idea. I also wish all the teams in the relegation battle, the best of luck.

Although I'd be happy for Toulouse, York or Leigh to make it into SL (instead of Toronto), IF Toronto were to have serious financial issues or actually fold, this would bring yet more negative press for the game.

It would be interesting to know where we are up to with the next Sky deal and whether they actually want Toronto in the top flight for viewing figures / advertising revenue etc.

Whilst we're (Leeds) not by any means out of it, our points difference is like an extra point, Leeds could still lose all the remaining games and to go down it would mean every team below them on 18 points to get 2 wins from 3 plus Wakey to get one. That's not impossible of course but I'd say unlikely however I am by no means thinking we're safe.

The relegation issue really rests in London's hands.
IF they were to get on a roll, it is possible that they could win their last 3 fixtures, Leeds, KR and Wakefield and we could end up with one hell of a scramble from the other sides.
I certainly fancy them to pick up at least one more win, possibly two and it just depends which side(s) they beat.
KR's points difference is now very much against them (unless they beat London) and if they can pick up a win then, Huddersfield will be very, very, nervous and probably hoping that Catalan come over in holiday mode for their last game.
I cant see them getting anything against Hull or Saints and those two games could also make a mess of their points difference.

Unless neither HKR or London can get a golden point and both come away with a point.

I thought our protracted finale of relegation a couple of years ago was bizarre, what with dubious drop goals and video ref disallowed tries against hudds in the penultimate game then followed up by losing a home mpg with an 8pt lead with 2 mins to go will never be superseded but knowing rovers we will go down with us and London on 20pts each with London -241 and us -242 , you will then look back at Craig halls short kick offs against wakey that probably led to us dropping 4pts on Sunday.
